Root Official Unrevoked Developers have Froyo on EVO

VGPOP:

Wish I knew what to tell you. I have flash working in both stock and dolphin HD browser.

With Dolphin I did have a little green arrow in the video window I had to touch to get it to play. But I didn't change or do anything else.

Could try deleting and re-installing Dolphin HD.
For stock browser I have no idea, other then just messing with it. delete shortcut, readd shortcut and launch.

Sorry, just no ideas.

I removed Dolphin HD browser and re-installed it again.

I went to CNN.com website and click on a video and at first it gave me an upside down arrow (green), I clicked on it and boom!......crashed. (browser closed)

This is so frustrated.

I may re-install update and perhaps this fixes problem. I saved it in my computer and I still have the .zip file in my SD card.

I did the same, moved about 10 app including Pandora - however, with Pandora on the SD card, it wont load the widget like, it seems to not find widgets of any kind IF they were moved to SD. In my experience. If you could check yours and see if the widget loads normally would be much appreciated so I can tell if its just me.

Well, Damn your right. Didn't check after I moved it. But widget is broken. Whats sad is I can't re-add it. Doesn't show up. So moved Pandora back to phone... still no widget to add. sigh.

Some people are saying they can get flash working with the stock or Dolphin browser, I have yet to experienced this. This was the first thing I tried after I installed update. Stock browser would load a page halfway and then closes itself (crashed)

have you tried clearing your browser cache and anything else that may've been saved from your pre-2.2 browsing?

So HTC is saying this is NOT the final ROM. Should we expect anything different with the final ROM? I didn't see many changes to Sense in this update.

yes you should expect everything to work unlike this rom. When the final is ready and bug free HTC will release it. 2.2 is not a big change to the os look but helps speed it up with the new JIT and adds a few other things. Update 3.0 will be the major update to the OS

HAHA, you say that so certainly as if HTC/Sprint hasn't set a deadline and don't have a timetable to work with.

Have you ever seen a bug free update??

Do you really think HTC/Sprint are waiting until 3-4 days before deadline to get their stuff in order? Especially after the last update that probably cost them a LOT of money?

There is just as good of a chance that the OTA will be the exact same as what many of us are playing with now as there is that there will be anything significant changed on it.

you know, people were soooo excited about this manual update. people were rude to others for asking how to install it and even mocked people who couldnt. people mocked those who shyed away from installing it because it could be buggy and then what...some found it to be buggy and now you all forgot you were talking about how stupid everyone was for not installing only a handful of hours ago. seems kind of stupid to me. If my phone breaks so be it, I made a decision to install an update that was not actively backed by either sprint or htc thus I must accept consequences...luckily for me I havent experienced all the problems others have. I also dont have some of the crap others have downloaded downloaded onto my evo. Either way I just think its hilarious how QUICKLY people changed their perspective without any acknowledgement to the belief they held only hours ago. Very smug of you guys. Not all, but some of you.

Overall impressions after the update, a day later:

No major changes to SenseUI. Was hoping for some tweaks, but like someone else said, the UI will probably get more attention in the 3.0 update whenever that comes.

Overall performance has improved dramatically. Not that it was ever horrible on the EVO, but the phone is so much snappier. Menus scroll smoother and keyboard typing improved incredibly (portrait).

A lot of nice minor updates to settings menus.

+1 for the calculator Widgets.

Camera/video apps work so much better. Overall, quicker and better picture quality.

Yes.

Please go back and check for the right start button instructions - somebuddy else had the same trouble.

I just can't find it now with the noise and bickering, I'm very sorry.

Others had this problem and posted how to get past it.

You may need to re-do the update, not sure.

i did the right instructions....the phone was bricked. i pulled the battery 3 times and it did the same thing. took it to sprint and they swapped it out with a new one.

Really sorry for your woes on this one, but way happy you were made whole in the end.

I was following your trouble as you posted it, but it never occurred to me to PM you at the time. The outcome probably wouldn't have been different, but I think it might've looked to you like no one was trying to respond to you real time, and that wasn't so.

Given that yours was the only one bricked, so far as I know, then maybe we just have to accept that as the pathological case. Bummer tho, as that was an I/O model if I read your posts right.

C'est la vie, no?

I did update to 2.2 and everything seems to be working fine. When I was checking with Android 2.2 documentation from Google, I find that

" Gallery allows you to peek into picture stacks using a zoom gesture.

Camera onscreen buttons provide easy access to a new UI for controling zoom, flash, white balance, geo-tagging, focus and exposure. Camcorder also provides an easy way to set video size/quality for MMS and YouTube.

With the LED flash now enabled for the Camcorder, videos can be shot at night or in low light settings."

While the LED flash is enabled for the camcorder I am not seeing the the change in the Gallery and also the new UI for the camera.

Can anyone help me understand this.

Thank you

Raj
