that if HTC/Verizon isn't gonna release 2.2 for the Eris, that they should atleast release an update w/ app2sd for those of us uses who don't want to root. I think thats the least they can do for us since the internal storage on the phone is low. Anyone agree?

Their next update to 2.1 should address the many issues reported to their tech lines and stores, 2.2 aside.

Apps2sd? Good thought. Not likely, I'd guess.

while I can understand the sentiment and like the idea......

theres a number of reasons why this wouldnt work..... the biggest being the SD card itself...... with stock 2.1 you cant run a2sd without partitioning the SD card.......not many users would know how to partition their SD card without having root and doing it through recovery....... 2.2 is written so that a2sd works without partitioning......... if they were going to go through the trouble of coding individual froyo features to work with 2.1 they would most likely spend the extra 10 minutes and just give us 2.2

I doubt they keep updating our phone with the latest and greatest features. Eventually, they'll want us to buy a new phone with those features.

Yes, but we all signed new 2-year contracts when we got our phones. And the phone was introduced less than a year ago. Now, people on these boards are phone fanatics and will try to find ways to upgrade early. The vast majority of users who don't read the forums will keep their phone for 2 years at least before looking for the next thing.

+1

In addition, I'm not referring to features nearly as strongly as to fixes; what fixes could come about I'm not sure of, but they'd have to be software related rather than the probably hardware related sound issues, etc.

I'm sure they are fully aware that a small number of power users (us) are rooting and that Devs are creating ROMs for these users. They prolly figure why bother if the people that are really concerned have found a way around it anyways. I'm sure the majority of the Eris users either dont know about Froyo or just dont really care, as long as their phone lasts 2 years.

I could care less about Froyo I just wanna be able to have more than a few apps at a time. I don't have to root my phone works fine the way it is but if it comes down to it, i'll root so I can put apps on the sd.
