Bluetooth DUN for Tomtom Traffic Updates

Has anyone found any software that will provide bluetooth 'dial up networking' support on the Desire, as required for Satnavs like the Tomtoms that use bluetooth DUN to retrieve traffic updates (and other Tomtom Plus functionality)?

I don't really want to root my phone or replace ROMs. tPDANet seemed very hopeful (as posted elsewhere: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/16704-tpdanet-enables-bluetooth-dun-droid.html), but although it fooled my Tomtom into believing that the Desire supported bluetooth DUN, the Tomtom failed to complete its setup. (Tomtom users may be familiar with the long pauses on 85% or so before the Tomtom gives up - very irritating!)

I am having this issue too. I can get my phone to use the Tomtom as a headset, but it wont accept any settings for Orange.

I contacted Tomtom about this issue, and their response was simply that the Desire was not one of their supported compatible handsets. They added that Bluetooth DUN was the standard way to do these things, and so it was what they'd chosen to support. I can see the logic, even though I don't find the answer particularly satisfactory.

I also contacted June Fabrics (the makers of PDANet) pointing out that this might be a good opportunity for them if they could make it work. (I'd happily pay a few pounds to them even if they chose not to support it in the free version. I suspect other people would too.) They were very helpful. I mentioned Bluetooth DUN and Tomtom Plus services specifically, and they said "WE are adding this feature in our next update. Should be out no more
than 3-4 weeks."

So, we may get a solution from tPDAnet in a few weeks. I'll certainly be trying this as soon as it's available, and I'll post my results here...

There have been a couple of new versions of PDANet now, none of which mentioned Bluetooth DUN for Tomtoms. I emailed June Fabrics again, and they told me to watch their twitter feed. I did this for a while, then emailed them again. After suggesting that I try the latest version, they eventually responded with:

"Hi

PdaNet does not support TomTom.

Thanks,
June Fabrics PDA Software Support"

I'm very disappointed - I guess they simply misunderstood my question (or exactly what was involved) originally. :-(

Any other suggestions?
