I like the Android part, but not the phone part. To me after seeing the past, a phone gaming device does not work out well.

Mobile phone gaming is very big. Nobody knows what the real specs are (it could be snapdragon but that can also mean the dual core that HTC will use in their next phone). And of course, the mockups are just to convey an idea. Some people take things too literally...

Problem is it's a gaming device first, and a phone second. We all saw how that worked out with the Ngage.

nokia doesn't know anything about games (or anything to do with software for that matter) unlike Sony. Their ovi store was also a disaster...doesn't mean that would be true for a store for Apple or Google.

I don't think it would be any good, I don't know how they could make a decent phone and games console as well as being small and not power hungry.

If they make this, I am so getting one. Its like the dream handheld, the portability of a PSP Go, with amazing graphics for a Handheld, then running one of the best OS's ever, Android.

Mobile gaming is very big, especially Apps wise, iPod touch is now recognized as a games console because of it (and of course, the iPhone with it, as it runs the same App's).

We could get some amazing games on this, even Gameloft have already ported some of there iPhone games over to Android.

If this is being made, I really can't wait for it to be released.

Sony may not have had the big problems that Nokia had, but Sony had issues before. PSP is now just catching up in the US and is finally top mobile gaming platform in JP after years of release, Nobody bought the PS3 at first because it was just too much money for it( Because Sony wanted to be revolutionary and use the Cell, which hardly any title on the PS3 really uses it), and some of their updates have been screwing up their systems. Sony also has not been in the Android game as much as others have been.

The Ovi Store was a disaster because most people who used Symbian just got apps off the internet by downloading them like any normal PC program. The app stores worked for Google and Apple because they launched them fairly early on. The Ovi Store came in, what, 5 years after Symbian? It was just too little too late.

But apparently, Nokia knows nothing about software, when they have the most popular smartphone OS in the world.

Is it a rumour? Haha, just wait a few months and you'll get your answer, *nudge nudge, wink wink* One thing is for certain, they have certainly created a tremendous buzz for it!

IGN are just covering their backpassages as usual. Remember the iPhone4 debacle? The PS3 Slim rumour? The xbox slim rumour? The forums and websites around the globe were full of the same naysayers until it dropped on them and then they were "Oh, look! See it wasnt a rumour at all and we had the exclusive way back in........"

As to the comments above about battery issues...Well, the PSP doesnt seem to have a problem with its battery!

Personally I can see this happening, but NOT as it is being reported. The PSP brand is in its death throes and I cant see Sony getting behind another iteration of the PSP in its current format!

It would make so much more sense to combine the PSP with a phone!

IGN are missing the point completely. It WONT be competing with Apple, because Apple users are NOT really gamers and Apple doesnt have a whole back catalogue of PS games to play with. Plus, with whatever processor they use, it'll have a whole new range of top notch titles to boot. The added bonus, it would be able to make and recieve calls and texts and do the t'interweb thing et al all in glorious droid flavour........

As Apple have proved, there does seem to be a market for a gaming phone device. Of all the manufacturers out there I would say Sony seem to be the natural choice to fill this market. As to the IGN comments about android and Sony, er the X10 runs on android?

As a gadget fan and gamer I would love to see it happen, but then that would mean I would need to change phones, again!!!
