Apps for 2 people??

Hello all,

I've had an evo since launch and I finally convinced the lady-friend to get something with Android so she picked up the Intercept (I had never heard of it before today).

Anyway, I was curious if there are any cool apps that let us leverage the fact that we're both on the same OS.

Dildroid is one that comes to mind! lol.

Good question though, I'm interested to hear what's out there as well. Wordfeud maybe, it's a scrabble like game for android. I don't know of any others.

Many of the grocery list apps use synced lists.A few examples are:

Grocery iQ is way better than OurGroceries, I've used both and had a much better experience with Grocery iQ.

TiKL-Touch To Talk (can't offer a link because the apps section is blocked at the work I'm @) - will offer you a nextel style Push To Talk functionality that is helpful.

Truthfully, I think both GroceryIQ and OurGroceries have some features that we don't currently implement. Such as a shopping cart with prices.

However, if you're looking for a more versatile list sharing app; I think our app outdoes both GroceryIQ and OurGroceries. Plus we have a widget that can "scroll" (if you buy it). I recommend that you try all the apps before making a decision on which one you like best. I think we all at least have a free version so no harm done there.

Why do you say this? What options do you have in Grocery IQ that you do not have in OurGroceries? Also what do you mean by a "better" experience? Did you have a bad experience with OurGroceries?

No, I definitely did not have a bad experience with OurGroceries; I just find it to be much simpler than GroceryIQ. To be honest, sometimes simple is good, less likely to break. But some feature differences I like about groceryIQ more is that it seems to be a bit better at picking brand names of items I need. For example - in both apps - start typing in the word "Walden" for "Walden farms dressing", OurGroceries gives no response; GroceryIQ pulls up at least 50 (didn't count while scrolling down)

I also like the ability to just scan the barcode of an item I already have to add it to my list (this *may* be possible in OurGroceries, I just don't remember being able to do it, please don't quote me on this).

It's a bit easier on my eyes, maybe it's the less drastic color scheme, I don't know, just seems a bit more "friendly" (that word coming from the girlfriend)

Lastly the coupon integration is fantastic, and has saved me some money the past few months.

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded Grocery IQ and am now currently trying it out. Here is my evaluation so far compared to OurGroceries:

Why OurGroceries is better:
1) Faster response time when items are added or removed from list. When I delete from OurGroceries, it is almost immediately deleted from my wife's list too. There is a much longer delay when you delete from Grocery IQ.
2) OurGroceries lists can be updated via the PC. This is a big advantage since I can update the list at work while I am working on the PC without having to open the App on my phone. Grocery IQ does not have a PC interface.

Why Grocery IQ is better:
1) Organizes items according to grocery aisle. Ourgroceries does not have this capability.
2) Grocery IQ comes with items already in database for quick look-up. OurGroceries does not come stocked.
3) Ability to SCAN barcodes into Grocery IQ. Though there are some quirks in this still, I scanned Bacon Bits last night and it appeared in Grocery IQ as "Bing Crosby's Christmas Hits", I do like this ability.
4) Grocery IQ allows you to enter in better descriptive information. OurGroceries only allows you to add number of items wanted. Grocery IQ allows that as well as size of item, price of item, etc.
5) Grocery IQ sums the costs of your items on the list to give you an approximate cost that your groceries will cost.

What I have not messed with in Grocery IQ:
1) Coupon area
2) Store Card Area

Thanks again for introducing me to a new app. With all the advantages that Grocery IQ has over OurGroceries, I may just be a convert.

I organize the items in OurGroceries by aisle manually, by putting the aisle number in front of the item's name in the list. When I add a new item, I leave out the aisle number if I don't know it, and add it in later.

The nice thing about Grocery IQ is that it does this for you. It also allows you to add stores like Publix and arrange the items in the aisles that match that store. It is very cool when you scan in an item like Milk, that it saves it as the exact product (i.e., Whole, skim, etc), exact size (i.e., quart, gallon, etc.) and aisle to find it, Dairy and Butter.

If you haven't tried it, you may want to take a look. Heck it is free just like OurGroceries so there is no investment but a little time. And that time will come back to you 100 fold if it saves you a bit of typing each time.

I am not affiliated with either product. I am just excited to find a grocery list program that works so nicely as these two.

I just installed this last night, as did my wife. We were able to exchange some photos and contacts. Pretty cool application.
