Problem with Wifi

So my droid eris won't connect to my wifi network. I have a dual band netgear router. It works with everything else except the eris. my xbox 360, nintendo wii, macbook pro, and multiple windows computers all work fine. My itouch connects to it nd so do all my other friend's android phones. I know my wifi on my phone works because I can use it on any other network. It seems to me that the wifi driver (do phones have drivers) needs to be updated. Is this possible?

Which channel is the router set to? No security, or WEP, WPA or WPA2? Is it set to 802.11 b/g/n? (I assume it must support g, if the touch, Wii, etc. all connect.)

Don't forget to enter the MAC address if you're using filtering for them on your router's settings.

Also, some devices do not take kindly to non-broadcast SSID.

no mac filtering, im not sure of the channel. The eris is the only device that the wifi won't work on. it won't show up and it can't be added manually.

You do have wifi turned on (the check box) in the menu for wireless and networking, right?

Sorry, but these mundane things are often what causes problems.

If you log in to the router from a PC, it will tell you all those things - channel, whether you are using b/g/n or just g, security (WEP, WPA, WPA2).

If it is WPA and not WPA2, and security is set to TKIP rather than AES, you can try changing it to AES (or switch to WPA2, which is AES by default.) I have read that some people have issues with TKIP on WPA. If it is set to b/g/n, you can set it to g only, to see if that works; I think I have read about people who have had issues with b/g/n. (Saying that, at my summer house I have a Netgear WNR2000 router - which is not dual band, though - with b/g/n and the Eris connects to it just fine, though the Eris's range is very low.)

There is an app in the Android market called WiFi Analyzer. That can tell you a little more about what the Eris is seeing.

Yeah, I assumed kutanks was doing that; configuring from his PC..

..I remember a time or two looking past a simple thing such as the MAC address, the channel SSID, etc.

If everything else is working on the network, that would point to a simple menu item in the phone, it seems.

its using wpa2. not sure what type. Yes my wifi is on. I can see other wifi networks on the phone other then mine.

Android based devices detect and connect readily to working wifi networks, driver issues are probably not what the concern is.

Mind if I ask if you were you the one who set up and connected the other devices on your network? When you said, "it's wpa2 not sure what type" it made me wonder if we're going to just walk you through the router set up process for your device.
