Can someone recommend me a decent android please

I cant make my mind up as to which android to get. I dont like the samsung galaxy S, its just too big. I cannot quite afford the htc desire which is wht I originally wanted. What ate the samsung galaxy portal i5700 or the i7500's like? Any others worth looking at? Thanks in advance guys

Did you read the first post? They don't want a large phone, won't pay for a good phone and are in the UK, none of the phones you mentioned are options.

The N1 feels surprisingly small in the hand.

If you like iPhone size, Acer Liquid is worth a look. Like a budget Desire .

It comes with Donut out of the box but official Eclair update is available on Acer website. It has a Snapdragon processor though slightly underclocked to 768MHz, it has 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM (plus 2GB SDCard included). It also has the 800x480 WVGA resolution (and it does look great on a 3.5" screen).

There is a Liquid E version which comes with Eclair out of the box and 512MB RAM.


If you are interested in rooting the device, the development community on MoDaCo is very large. There is a FroYo port being worked on and almost complete (proximity sensor and videorecording not working, Bluetooth kinda buggy, built in tethering not working. But everything else working great and it is a very usable every day ROM).

There are also several great Eclair ROMs available in which everything works (even a couple which include Dolby Mobile).

The HTC Wildfire is like a cheap version of the Desire!

Out of all the small phones (3.2" or less), Wildfire probably is the best one. Looks good, has FroYo (I think it got it), I believe Dolby Mobile as well. Not very powerful but for a lower resolution smaller screen device, should be fairly snappy. Worth a look too.

Right Im ready for another android! Since I first created this post, I bought a htc desire and loved it...........until my son dropped it and cracked the screen. I wasnt annoyed at that as accidents happen as we all know. It was the repair bill that done my head in. I had to pay

Looks decent. Also another thing I regret about my htc desire is the fact that I never rooted it! At the time I had my desire, I didnt see any benefit in it. Boy was I wrong!! I assume any android can be rooted???

Pretty much, but when phones are new, they take a short time for the rooting exploit for that model to be found.
