Sorry to beat a dead horse here people.....I searched and didn't really didn't see my question answered.

I went on vacation last week and did a comparison between my X and my wife's Incredible. We were on a cruise, so both phones stayed in airplane mode due to not needing a signal. With absolutely no use, not even turning on the screen, my battery went from 100% - 10% in 37 hours... Dumbfounded, I went to running app.s and stopped nearly everything. I tried again and only got 49 hours. In comparison, her Droid used 10% of her battery in 9 days !!!!

The X advertises 220 hours of standby....I am only 180 hours shy of this, something wrong or do they just lie? Remember, my numbers are no use at all, the battery manager only showed "phone idol" as battery consumption.

Needless to say, I am hearing how much better the Incredible is now:mad:

Pretty scary. I do not get eight hours before I have to charge my battery. I keep hearing what great battery usage everyone is getting. But, not me. No live wallpaper, either. I do leave the wifi on. I am going to leave it off to see if that is my problem. But if your case is normal, I don't hold out much hope. I am on call, so I can't do the test you have done.

I have only had my x 4 days now but just leaving it locked at night uses about 10%

my battery use (settings , battery use-- no app needed) tells me that in the last 21h 39m 58s since last unplugged the display was 40% of my usage, cell standby was 29% voice calls were 28% and phone idle was 5%. amd i am at 30% battery left. but i have NOT used wifi, gps or bluetooth at all in that time. i have the on/ off buttons for those on my home screen thanks to beautiful widgets. I AM however using a live wallpaper, nexus revamped. hope this helps. i also have used it pretty heavily last night with picture messages, market browsing and phone calls last night (in total about 3 hours.)

I've actually noticed better standby battery life on my dinc compared to my dx. But my dx gets better usage battery life. When I'm actually using the phones, the dx lasts longer. But the dinc standby is pretty impressive. Just not relevant to me. If I were going to go that long without using it, it would be shut off.

I think it's really tough to judge these things on the Droid X because it only displays in increments of 10% for battery life. For all we know it could round to the nearest 10% so when we see it drop from 100% to 90% it might actually still be at 94%. Based on my use I would find this to be likely as I notice my phone drops much faster from 100% to 90% then it does from 90% to 80% and all the 10% increments below that. All I do know for sure is that I easily get a day and a half from my phone which is all I really need.

There is also a GPS bug that keeps the phone from sleeping. Download spare parts from the market and check the running time under battery history. If it is close to 100% then your phone probably isn't sleeping. Same thing was happening to mine and there is a quick fix for it. You just have to toggle the GPS off and back on. You may also need to put your phone in Airplane mode, reboot, leave it in airplane mode for a few minutes and then back to normal mode. I did both of these things and my battery life has improved significantly.

You can leave wifi on as long as you have it only connect to to known access points. Leave notify me of open connections off.

I haven't charge my phone in 24 hours and I still have 60% left and I've used it a bit.

Don't read into the 220 hour thing. That would be with the phone doing absolutely nothing for that long. No phone calls, no internet, no sync, no screen on. It would just be waiting for a call for that time.

I'm more than happy with my battery life. My Incredible just made a day. My wife's barely made a work day.

The X's "no sleep" bug needs to be worked around:
-turn off gps when done using
-turn off wifi when done using
-after charging, unplug phone and reboot

Normally, you can leave this stuff on. Wifi uses less power than 3G so you want to use it when you can. 3G is used when needed by app and otherwise uses no power. The update to the X should fix all this.

My worry is that is exactly what was going on.....nothing. I hadn't even turned the screen on until I heard the low battery beep.

....and yes wi-fi , gps etc was turned off.

Guess I just expect more than I should from the battery.

Just as a quick update for you guys/girls. I had my phone unplugged for 1 day and 11 hours over the weekend. Still had 50% battery left. 8% of that was used by wifi, and it was connected to wifi for all but about 2 hours. I have the wifi sleep policy set to never.

The highest value was cell standby. Then wifi. The screen was on for 38 minutes during that time so I didn't use the phone that much in that 35 hour period.

Don't expect much from smartphones. If you don't have to charge it until you go to bed be very happy. If you get more than that, be thrilled.

The other part of the no sleep bug workaround is to unplug your phone after charging and reboot it. If u charge it with phone off you may have to boot it, unplug it, reboot it.

Apps/widgets/live wallpapers can also drain battery. Dial *#*#4636#*#* to find culprits.

I had never heard of this one, pretty cool.....except I'm not really sure what the numbers mean under the usage statistics. I have a few things listed, after the app name there is a single or double digit number and then a larger number with ms after it. What are these?
