Gmail "Archive" Button...

Thank you!! :D

I don't really use Gmail (I have mine set up through Outlook), so I wasn't familiar with the concept of "Labels". Now I get it though... Seems like it's just their version of putting things in folders ;)

So to "un-archive" it, I just put the Inbox label on it, and changed the view back to Inbox. The "All Mail" view seemed to create quite a bit of lag. Will this also show "Spam" mail too though? I didn't notice any, but I didn't want to keep scrolling down and "loading conversations".

Thanks again :D

Will the archived emails showed up in the computer desktop after sync? What I am trying to say if I archive an email on my phone, will the same email also be archived on the Gmail on my desktop computer?

Yes, that will happen. Sometimes you have to wait a couple minutes after you archive to give it time to sync. But basically whatever you do on the phone will affect what you see on the Gmail webpage on the computer, and vice versa.

Is there any way to prevent accidentally archiving mail on the droid?

The archive button seems like it always gets hit and then the mail disappears it drives me CRAZY.

If you ever get Froyo, there is a setting to confirm archives. But, what you can do until then is menu->go to labels->All mail, find the conversation, either check it and hit labels->in box, or open it and menu->change labels and check the in box. Then, menu->more->Go to in box.

is there a way of getting rid of the Gmail "Archive" Button
I hate it, i seem to hit it will i am on the go and have no time to search for lost email. and i use gmail for work so if i lose an email it can really hurt me.

Thanks,

Edit, i am using gingerbeard 2.3, hopefully ICS soon on my SG2 on TMobile

This is the Eris forum, and the Eris at Android 2.1 does not have the latest GMail app available in Gingerbread, but the best answer is to require confirmation of archives.

In GMail, menu->more->settings. Tap your GMail account, Confirm actions, and turn on Archive (you may also want to turn on Delete.)

Archived mail just gets removed from the Inbox but remains in the All Mail label, so it's quite easy to get to if you do accidentally archive. (And the search in the GMail app is pretty fast and it searches through All Mail as well...)
