Talked to a manager at Verizon customer service today and he confirmed the Fascinate will be released Sept. 9th.

Pre orders being taken at Best Buy. Also, if your upgrade is less than 60 days away, you can more than likely get it now. I was advised to wait til it comes out, then request the early upgrade, but I'm doing it the 8th.

Just what I was told. Hope it's true. :D

I was told pre orders are going on now at Best Buy at least. Can't confirm.
I can confirm that. I went to the local Best Buy store on Friday. They almost got my order. I told them I need to think about it over the weekend.

It is because my NE2 won't be up until October. But now I have decided to give up my NE2 discount and pay the extra $100 to buy this phone right now. I will do my pre-order on Tuesday. :)

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure there is a fix for the gps that you can do if you root your phone. IF it is infact an issue on the Fascinate, I've heard reports both ways. Rooting is pretty safe on Samsung and not hard to do.. it would be worthwhile to do it just to get rid of some of the bloatware.. I'd really like to get Bing off if it can be taken off. Plus you can install froyo manually before the OTA release.

I love Verizon service, but they did a few things that I don't agree with. Packaging with Bing?? WTF is that about? The rest of the Samsung's are Google. Also if they really do release this with a known GPS issue, I will really question them on this. I would think they would lose a lot more on returns than they would gain on a faster release, doesn't make sense to me that they would do this (or Samsung).

@howdy, we don't need to quote you as it is a fact. A GPS fix is indeed available out there. I believe it is on xda-developer.

And for those who are not planning to root the phone like me, don't forget the fact that Sumsung has announced their commitment to fix the GPS problem on all Galaxy S phones in September. Also, based on what I have read, Froyo will fix that problem as well and it will be available this month.

Once again, it is just 3 days away. We will find out for sure if it has any GPS problem or not. There is no point to get so wrapped up about it at this time. :)

Yea Best Buy is doing pre-orders now, I put mine in yesterday.. $50 to pre-order and they give you a $50 gift card. I'm guessing the phone will sell out like all of the other Verizon phones do but who knows for sure. I'm hoping to get mine Thursday! I'd go through Verizon myself if I knew I could get one from them. I'm just not sure how many phones they'll get in stock, seems like Verizon never has enough of the new phone models to meet demand. This should be a hot item, especially if they do a by one get one free deal on it.

they had enough droid 2's. I think they will have enough of these because im sure samsung will ship plenty since they are trying to sell as many as possible and havent had any backorders for the others(that ive heard of) so i will go in thursday to verizon and pick one up.

Best Buy promised that if I pre-order the phone, it WILL be there on the launch day.

If you are planning to buy it anyway, why wait and take the chance of being sold out?

Several people on these forums are going to wait until the GPS issue is fixed. Since I don't really use GPS at all, I won't be waiting. I will go to Verizon on the 9th and play around with the phone. If I like it a lot, I will swap in my Droid X for it.

I am sure once you root it, get rid of Bing search and get Google Search, perform the GPS fix and the lag fix...this phone will be phenomenal.

The funny thing is that doing all that will probably take less than an hour.

im sure rooting has become very easy now and it doesnt take long at all to remove all of the bloatware and install everything how i want it. Should be really awesome then, with no gps or lag issues or crappy bing search lol
