For those of us original adopters who got their Moto Droids last Novemeber, who is upgrading this coming Novemeber (Using the annual upgrade)?

What are you guys looking at getting? The fascinate will be old news by then so hopefully something new and shiny will be out by then!

I bought the Incredible on ebay but I was an original droid adopter so I still have by upgrade coming in November!

I wonder if that new HTC phone will be out by then?

Looking forward to hearing from everyone ;)

HuH?! I thought the upgrade option was available every 2 years.

But even if I could upgrade this November, I wouldn't. I've been running a new ROM (UD 8.0) now for about 2 weeks and I'm am totally in love with my "old" DROID.

If I'm not mistaken, you can get two-year-contract pricing on a new phone every year. If you forgo this, and wait the two years, you get an additional credit along with the two-year-contract pricing.

Yes, and there is an additional $25 fee to upgrade at the one year mark at two year pricing. If you wait the full two years you don't have to pay the $25, you get two year pricing and for most a $50-$100 credit towards their phone on top of the mail in rebate. :D

I called vz customer service, to see when I can upgrade, a and they told me july 2011 was the soonest I could do it and get the upgrade discount, otherwise its full price :-(
I got my droid in november when it came out, but want the X in the worst way! The larger screen, hdmi out, and more internal memory all drive me that direction, I just wish it had the keyboard....

i never wait the full two years to upgrade. As far as I know, you can upgrade at any time you just arent able to get a new phone for a discounted price until your contract is up. When your contract ends you can end your time with verizon or upgrade to a new phone for a discounted price because your extending your contract.

Point being, you can get a different phone whenever you want you just dont get the discount. Before the droid i had a BB storm and i had that phone for just shy of a year. verizon was doing the buy one get one for droids so I was able to get one for cheap.

I've heard that there are some great HTC and moto phones on the horizon, so i'll be sticking with my rooted droid until then, maybe even after they come out if they don't "wow" me. The one phone that does look "semi" interesting is from htc that's said to be the evo for verizon, but with some other changes, so i'm wondering what they changes are.

I think it's this one. It looks like a 4.3" Nexus One (that's a good thing!)

Also, while Verizon may say there is a $25 fee to do the annual upgrade at the 2-year contract price, I have never actually had it applied. They just waive it for me :)

This is correct, only if you are the primary acct holder though. If you are an add-on/secondary then you only get the "upgrade" pricing, not the additional credit.

Really wish I could upgrade in November. I started my vz contract in January (or maybe Feb) this year. If I was eligible for an upgrade I would either get a Droid X, or a similar phone they have released since then. I've come to realize that I really could use a bigger screen, and I like the think, slate-like form of the X. Since the X is the best phone at this point (imo) that has vanilla android on it (Droid 2 custom ui made it easy to not want one), I would prolly want that if I was able to get a new phone today.

I have thought about this - if that new 4.3" HTC phone is 4G I'd have to seriously consider it. But then again, that's a big ass phone - love my original Droid though - running CM6 - flies.

I went online and it says I can't upgrade until 7/11 but I called and they told me I could upgrade in December - I bought the original Droid the day it came out. So I guess we'll see what happens

"However, no info on when the phone might arrive at Big Red emerged, though there are great chances that we won't see it released this year, as previous reports on the carrier suggested that no device with better specs than DROID X should be launched in 2010."

I can wait for something better than the X unless they start putting the X out with 2.2. I might have to give it a look after all the bugs are worked out.
As of today there is nothing worth switching to from a rooted droid in my opinion.

the fascinate seems to be a piece of crap imo....i am considering the X but there are always great things out for the holidays so i will wait...the samsung with the 7 inch screen might be nice....if google voice search isnt available i may just cancel a line for now...verizon really needs to stop screwing around with features that work, i mean, who would willingly use bing?? a search engine that "decides" for you:eek:
