Replace HTC Lockscreen, an Incredible Find!

You mean the weather widget? I tried removing it and readding it and that didn't work. I even tried to uninstall the program and reinstall from the market and it still doesn't work.

I don't know what's wrong :(

But... there were no options for anything regarding animations when I installed it.

Ummm... see what? LOL

EDIT: Oh, that.

Yes, I did. Like I said, I turned on the HTC Weather Animations in Widget Locker and it's set to "any application".

Everything is turned on (in WL, in the phone menu, etc), they just are not working.

I even uninstalled Fancy Widget just in case it was causing a conflict. Still nothing =(

Nah, I have no desire to pay for a weather app :( The widget I am using now does have the ability because it worked before. Don't know what happened or changed that it doesn't now, but I know it's not the widget since that hasn't been updated in 2 months or so.

Hey all,
I've been watching this thread since its inception, I've been slowly digesting bits and pieces of the Incredible and Sense(I'm not tech savvy), I finally felt comfortable enough with it to jump on board and add WidgetLocker. So I'm part of the $1.99 crowd, paid more than if I would have if I had jump on board right away, but in waiting I haven't had to deal with the growing pains that others have along the way. I'm on Froyo, I waited for the OTA, I don't run anything like BW or LPro, I'm having no issues with WidgetLocker, the only difference I've noticed since purchasing it is the phone lags a fraction of second when going back to the home screen after unlocking(non-issue for me). So thank you to Kevin, I think you go above and beyond with helping people with your application here in the forum. fwiw- This is the first application I've been willing to shell out the money for, everything else I have are the freebies.

I'll post more tomorrow, but basically:
There was a bug that caused WidgetLocker to give up completely on weather animations if it saw that at one time there was no current location data available. Fixed in 1.2.6 (coming soon).
Launcher reloads is addressed in 1.2.6, things aren't perfect still (basically it's now five-second-rule vs launcher reloads), but I've made some progress (root users can bypass five-second-rule).

Glad people are continuing to enjoy WidgetLocker :)

Is there still a bug that allows the user to view the notifications bar when in the lock screen? I tried widget locker once, and I could not take it, becuase people could get to my email through it. I would try it again, but I would not be able to return it this time. It is only $2, but if the bug still exists it is not worth my time.

Thanks

I posted this in another thread but figured I'd put it here also in case the dev cared.

Well, I uninstalled Widget Locker and have not had Sense restart once. As much as it pains me I will have to go without Widget Locker until this is fixed, if it's even possible. The restarts were becoming more frequent. Back to the boring HTC lockscreen.

are you talking about the re-boot at the HTC white screen. if so. mine does this at least 10 times a day and its starting to piss me off. i did not delete WL just turned it off and it still did it. maybe i should have un-installed to see if that fixes it.

Very nice to hear! :D

Okay, so will this work for me? When your new update comes out, I uninstall WL completely. Then reinstall with 1.2.6. Set up with animations turned on while using a Widget that has weather. All set?

Also, any idea why it's starting on the lock screen instead of the home screen? Is that something that will possibly be fixed in the update?

Exactly. I uninstalled Widget Locker yesterday and it hasn't happened since. I'm not sure if this issue is the launcher reload vs. 5 second rule Kevin was referring to. I'm rooted so if so, I'd love to know how to bypass the 5-second rule. Will this be a setting WL with the new update?

there is an option in the Settings Menu under Look & Feel to hide the Notification Bar while locked.

not rooted here and un-installed WL this AM and have not had a re-boot problem.

I love WL so I hope Kevin has a fix up his sleeve.

If you are using security (pattern/pin/password) then the notification bar is locked, if you are not using security (they could get to your messages anyway) and the notification bar is not locked, but can be hidden. Android doesn't allow third-party apps to display but disable the status bar. I'm working on a few approaches to work arounds.

No need to uninstall. WidgetLocker 1.2.6 (no released) will detect Sense and will only mark it is not-sense if the actual Sense framework isn't found. If it just can't get the current weather location/conditions it will just skip the animations (just like stock-sense does) but it will still try again later.

Wait, it's starting on the lock screen? Is this beautiful widgets animations rather than sense? I've talked to the developer of beautiful widgets and hopefully we'll get support soon. I believe I added the needed things to 1.2.6 but he will have to update beautiful widgets to support it.

The HomeHelper was strongly contributing to the Launcher reload issue. I suggest you install 1.2.6 from the Market and don't set WL HomeHelper as your default, instead set Sense or whatever Launcher you use. You can turn on the root bypass in Settings > Advanced

You can go ahead and install 1.2.6 like above, but obviously the root bypass won't work for you. This is okay, it just means if you press Home within 5 seconds of turning the screen ON, then WidgetLocker will be delayed a bit. If you're about to turn the screen off and back on, just don't press Home ;). There's a little Toast message that explains this (though the stock lock screen hides it) so you release when the five-second-rule is happening.

Version 1.2.6 Sept 13, 2010

  • Rotary Slider
  • Block long-press Home
  • Screebl Pro support
  • Motorola Gallery
  • Landscape mode for docks/extended keyboards
  • Reduced need for HomeHelper, helps address Launcher reload issues
  • Alternative method of bypassing the Five-Second-Rule for Root users
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements
(Reduced need meaning now you can block Home/long-press of Home at the lock screen without the HomeHelper)

I installed the new version and set it up as you suggested. So far so good. Thanks for the help and your dedication to an awesome app.

So I just decided $2 was worth it, and that if I had a problem it would get fixed (the dev actually answering questions here helped that notion, so good job dev :) ). If it does not work out, well...if I were that worried about $2 I would not have a data plan.

Thanks (especially to kevin@teslacoilsw),

EDIT: Every time it locks, I turn on the screen and I get the widget locker lockscreen. However, I unlock to the regular lock screen, not to my PIN entry screen. Does anyone else know what is going on? CM6.0.2, if it matters.

I assume you mean you see the regular screen and then after that you see the pin screen? Unfortunately the way the PIN screen was built into standard Android it won't display without that first leading screen. Sense actually will hide it in some conditions and WidgetLocker forces those conditions so PIN unlock is a bit more seamless there. Pattern unlock works properly under standard Android + WidgetLocker.
I'm looking into ways to fix the PIN/Password on standard Android. I might actually first fix it as a patch to Cyanogenmod to have a setting or just not display the leading screen when the screen is already on.

@Kevin - I'm guessing you've seen this thread over on xda around using the optical trackpad to wake: [SOLVED]Wakup via Optical Trackpad - xda-developers

They are editing the qwerty.kl file as such:
Code:
key 232 DPAD_CENTER WAKE_DROPPED
to
Code:
key 272 DPAD_CENTER WAKE

Just wondering if you were doing the same thing because they are seeing the same delay problems when the phone is sleeping as well. The thread is marked [solved] but with the delay IMO it's not solved.

Cheers
