Help Facebook and Market Downloads stopped working...

Ok, so I've had no problems with my Desire until yesterday when two things seem to have stopped working.

First - my Facebook refuses to update. When I click on refresh it states "An error occured while fetching data [null]".

Secondly - Market Downloads refuses to load with the error "A server error has occured. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen." But I can actually search the market place and it works fine.

My email is all downloading fine and my other applications seem to be working OK.

I'm on O2 and running the standard 2.1 software that came with the phone.


Now I have seen that the problem could be caused by switching your account from '@googlemail.com' to '@gmail.com' - which I did do about a month ago.

I've switched the account back to '@googlemail.com' and restarted the phone - but no dice, market>downloads and Facebok still refuse to work.

I'm going to leave it overnight to see if it makes any difference, but,
anyone got any other ideas?

Not just you - exact same issues (o2, 2.1)

I have a @gmail.com address, but have done for many months, so don't think it's that.

Yeah you're probably right about that, so switched back to '@gmail.com'.

My gmail email, calendar and tasks all seem to work correctly.

Bloody O2, what are they doing?

The issue with the market place is also happening on my device (Orange, unbranded) so don't think o2 can be to blame for that one.

I don't have any other issues with facebook though...

Market > Downloads

It appears that if you keep clicking on 'Retry' it will eventually get through to the list of downloads.

My Facebook still isn't working tho'.

your facebook problem is a very common issue. i posted a thread about it yesterday. a lot of people are experiencing it and it looks like it is down to facebook and nothing to do with the phone itself. so nothing to worry about with that one for now. hopefully there will be a fix in the long term.

also do not download the facebook app off the market. it is horrendously bad.
