New G2 Benchmarks

YouTube - T-Mobile G2 by HTC Quadrant Standard Benchmark Test

Not that I was worried or anything, but I wasn't expecting the G2 to top out as the fastest Android phone on the market like this. Granted, the Galaxy S and Droid X in the test seem to be on 2.1, but still. I can't wait for my G2!

It didn't seem to perform as well as I thought it would on the 3d portion. The new droids and galaxy's run those parts very smooth...

Uh, it ran them perfectly smooth, from what I could tell... aren't you forgetting to take into account Youtube's crappy framerate? What matters are the numbers at the end of the test: G2 had 1499, while the Droid X and Galaxy S had about 1100 and 800, respectively. Like I said, it seems that those comparisons were on 2.1 so it's not exactly fair, so the actual numbers are probably a bit closer.

Imagine what this thing will be able to do overclocked...

Even on youtube the 2 phones I mentioned are still fairly smoother. Not saying the g2 was bad though. It is alot smoother than the nexus, evo, desire, etc.

I might get this phone also, but kinda disappointed in the quadrant score.

Not to burst anyones bubble here, but after applying lagfix, Vibrant's are getting near 2600. This is WITHOUT 2.2! Imagine, Vibrant will probably pull in like 3000 with 2.2.

btw...you need to run quadrant professional, professional is the only one that breaks down the score, and shows you the real cpu and gpu performance. The free edition just gives you a raw total score, you have no clue of the true cpu performance with free edition.

I reject your reality and substitute my own. 800Mhz is better than 1000Mhz. So there! XD

Still, that was just some leaked video... we've yet to see what the G2 gets when it's rooted as well, and has whatever lagfix type mod it will inevitably need.

My benchmark is 1700 neocore is 57.1 fps on the G2

It seems that the Scorpion processor found in te htc merge and g2 are very close to the 1ghz snapdragon in the nexus. The biggest leap the scorpion seems to have over the snapdragon is in the i/o portion. Also interesting is the fact that the snapdragon out scores the scorpion on the cpu portion...

This is all assuming that the merge and g2 have the same processor of course

N1 will outperform G2 in pure CPU operations because they both have the same CPU core but G2 lacks 20% clock speed. Qualcomm didn't change the CPU core from 1st gen to 2nd gen design - both are based on ARM Cortex A8 design. There were other (singnificant) improvements, but CPU core was not one of them.

But as you can see, G2 is doing quite nicely at system level:
