Root Removed VZ Nav, but I want to use Car Dock

I guess if we want to use Car Dock, we have to use VZ Nav and cant remove the apk? I'm getting an FC when I tap Navigate.

yeah, navigation on the car dock is hard coded to use VZ Navigator. You'll have to exit the car dock mode and open maps or navigation in order to use Google Nav.

Take one of your 7 home screens, and go into portrait mode, then put the shortcuts you want on there. Now you have your own sorta car dock mode. Maybe not as pretty, but just as functional, AND personal!

Just a thought. Do you think it would work if you renamed the app for google nav to the same name as the vz nav app?

Custom Car Home is the solution for you! Available for free on the Market, CCH launches automatically when your phone is placed in the Car Dock. It allows you to select and save up to 8 different applications on a single page with up to 3 separate pages to use if needed. I installed the app and set-up my CCH Home page with Google Maps, Google Navigation, Google Voice Search, Contacts, and several other apps. No, the link you provided is to the Google product which does not show up in the market for the Samsung Fascinate. I'm assuming this is because of the Bing issue. If you go to the Market and do a search on Custom Car Home, it should be at the top of your list. It's a free app that has worked very well so far.

Lonzom10 it's a great app but I cannot get it to launch automatically when phone is placed in the car dock. With LauncherPro---nothing at all launches when dock is slid closed. With TWLauncher--only the stock car cradle app will launch automatically. Maybe you have to root and then go in and rename the car cradle apk to old. Would be interested in how you get it to load automatically. It has the app's developer stumped right now as well (he doesn't have a Fascinate to experiment on). Oh and thanks for all your helpful posts on here.

EDIT: Solved. Installed Locale and Locale shortcut plugin. Set cardock condition and shortcut setting to launch CCH. Works like a charm even with LauncherPro!! Yea!!

Guys go here and download the OP's attachment for the car home app. It's the same as stock but uses Google maps instead of VZ Navigator.
