on my second evo and camera broke again

The first ego after being dropped from 3ft the camera would not focus, radio shack replaced it for free. Now on my second ego and just dropped it last night from about 2ft and now the pictures look like I have the posterize filter or solarize filter on it but I can assure you that there are no filters being added to the picture I uploaded. I reset the phone and did a hard reset and still no luck, video looks the same way and now I'm out of my 30 warranty. Is this happening to anyone else? I did a search and couldn't really find anyone with my problem and I know I can't be the only one dropping their phone. The phone had a Seidio case on it when it was dropped.

Highwayman, there is no need to call the guy a tool. Keep the name calling to the playground I say.

EEclipse16, like everyone else said, the Evo is like a mini laptop and should be treated as such. I have yet to drop my phone and I will be out of my 30 days next week. If you have the tendency to drop you device you should invest in the insurance and also a really really strong case.

I have the Otterbox case it seems strong enough that if I dropped it from the height that you said it will protect it but who knows. did you drop it on a solid floor or carpet?

Black top, I was getting out of the car and forgot it was on my lap. I have the insurance but I think its a $100 to make the claim. It's easy to say not to drop it until it happens to you.

Yea seriously, either dont drop your phone or get a protective case.

Yes, pay the 100 bucks and get a new one, and learn your lesson. Dont try to illegally fool the system by trying to take it back. Its YOUR fault, not a manufacturer defect.

I guess I just got a bad break twice, just sucks I read these threads about people dropping it and it goes tumbling down 12 stairs only to be stopped by a concrete wall and the phone is ok and a 2 ft drop kills mine.

This is why my EVO is overkill protected by an Otterbox commuter case AND I put it in a small camera bag. Its a little thick in the pocket but if I drops it then it won't go boom. LOL
Seriously if your clumsy and you know it get insurance and spend a little money on a protective bag, its a little extra work to pull out the bag and then pull the phone out of it but if its broken it doesn't matter how quickly you can pull the phone out of your pocket.

Why the hate for the guy dropping his phone? Some of you are acting holier than thou for never dropping thy phone. OMG thy dropped their phone! To the Op:thinking: yes I dropped my evo yesterday from >1 ft. and it too acted like there was a filter applied. I tapped the lens at seems to have fixed it at least for now.

Damn haha I just flicked mine pretty hard and it fixed it!

I tend to agree with you...it's not a manufacturing defect...more of an engineering defect. It's not like HIS had a particularly weak camera mount or focusing motor. They probably ALL DO.

So don't drop them.

I've had things that I've dropped, and nothing was wrong with it. Those are probably better engineered (or simpler) than other things...which break from a 2ft drop.

You get what you pay for...if they had engineered it to take a 5ft drop on cement, it would not look as cool...and would probably cost another $100-200.

Boy, the boards are rough..the people will eat you alive!

AS everyone else stated. Please if you know you don't take care of your products, and from the sounds of it, you don't. Get a case and lilttle bag as was suggested, so that when you drop the 3rd phone, you will have less a chance of busting the camera up.

I have had my Evo for a month and only bought the BodyGlove, plastic snap on case from Sprint. I haven't dropped mine yet. I baby my baby. I keep it wrapped in Bounty tissue all day long and when I am home, I keep it wrapped up in a wash cloth.

I know mistakes happen, but it's called being careless, and we all have had it happen. We learn from drop #1 and even drop #2.
