My EVO is delayed sometimes and has been freezing up more lately. I am not sure why. When I press the power button to turn on the screen it will take a while to respond. Sometimes it does not repsond to button presses.

How can I check to see if a program or app is causing this?

I'm having the same problem with my EVO and I'm not even using 4G. Mine also needs a while to Load up to the main screen when I turn the phone off. I have ran Lookout mobile security and antivirus and neither one is showing any problems so I don't think its an app.

1. Do either of you use a task killer? Thats always my first suspect.
2. Check your storage space. From main screen, hit menu/settings/SD& phone storage. Look under Available Space. If its under 50 I would suggest removing unused apps.
3. Regarding apps, what was the last few apps you installed? Some apps are just not built well and will cause issues.
4. Use an app called Astro File Manager (free from the market). There is a app manager tool built in were you see the processes and see if there is an app that is constantly running.
5. Service area, does it only happen when you are at a curtain location?

Hopefully this will help out some. If non of these suggestions work then you may want to back up your app data and try a factory reset. I hate recommending that so hopefully one of the above will help.

Yep, it's 4g. I don't use task killers. I have over 6 gigs free on my card and over 120 in memory (just checked). I uninstalled recently installed apps also. Still slow.

Then I turned off 4g. I turned off my phone and turned it back on. It is back to full speed! As soon as I hit the power button, it lights up. I slide the screen and it moves at warp speed. This is how the phone should be. There is DEFINITELY a problem with 4g!
