Root eri.xml file

So I just downloaded KaosFroyo v36 and I am interested in changing "Sprint" to "Verizon Wireless." I have created a .xml file called "eri.xml" which says "Verizon Wireless" and placed it in sdcard/data but the phone still says Sprint. What am I doing wrong?

Never done this myself, but here's a thread with detailed instructions for manually doing it:

how to edit the eri.xml - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

[edit: note, these instructions are for the Droid...a better, Eris-specific thread might be: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/141770-great-froyo-rom-cyanogentazz.html which meshes with LED's post ;) and basically references the same file (props to LED! :))]

Cheers!
