I'm switching to the moto x from fascinate

Can any one tell me anything other than the brighter screen, what will i be missing from the fascinate? I have been having calling issues and phone freezing so I'm finally giving it up come tuesday

I did the same a few days ago.... I think the SF is a bit faster and the SF screen is eye popping....

The DX has some lag that the SF does not.... 2.2 on the DX has plenty of improvements... The biggest for me, is voice dialing over BT...

Loving my DX and would not go back to the SF...

On your Fascinate.... go to Market and install Appbrain, then login at Appbrain.com and open the appbrain app on your phone and sync it. Now your apps should show up on appbrain.com

Some of your apps might be able to export the settings to the SD card, which you might want to backup and restore to your new phone.

No. You need to use something like Titanium Backup to do that.

Appbrain just assists you in reinstalling all your apps. Market will already know about your paid apps (assuming you used the same Google acct).

You would think they would have something out other than Titanium Back-Up (which is a root only app... no?) to back up things like Notes and Keeper. I lost all my passwords and notes (had them hand written on a tablet) when I did my factory restore. I hadn't rooted yet and didn't have Titanium Back-Up when I did the hard reset so I lost all the info contained within those apps.

He's right, that wasn't the case with my Blackberry. When I got my new Blackberry I simply took the backup I had on desk top manager of all my passwords and they transfered right over. If they have something like this for stock Android phones then I've never hear of it. But they need it.

I'm not sure if this will do everything you want. But I am using MyBackup Pro.

Well, seeing as how the screen on the X is 27% brighter than the one on the Fascinate, I'd say you won't be missing anything

My husb and I both started out with Fascinates a few weeks ago. Great phone !! But, not great for me. I teach in an older school with cinderblock walls and SF reception was horrible. GPS probs too. Those were dealbreakers for me. I switched to DX and those probs were taken care of. I LOVE this phone!!
I think the SF is a great phone but after using the DX for a couple of weeks, playing with husb SF last night, the colors look cartoonishly vibrant and it just feels so plastic-y for lack of a better word.
For me, the Droid just fits....

I think thats where the Motorola's shine with reception....bad reception areas.

I know I will be measuring my future phones by my Droid 1 and X reception in bad reception areas.

Quoted for Truth! And i would add call quality. I went through 40+ phones from all OS's (minus iphone since i heard from enough people reception and call quality sucked) including many nokia's and the Droid 1 and now the Droid X were head and shoulders above all in those 2 categories.

Since it is still a phone TO ME, it seems silly to compromise on those 2 most important aspects. And let me add that the X adds amazing noise cancellation on top of the D1 so it really is cream of the crop for me!

Have you ever held a fascinate? I think I know exactly what he's talkin about by "brightness", and it isnt how many lumens it emits.

The SF's screen colors really "POP" so to speak. Its amazing to look at.

Since we're going by %'s I suppose it's safe to say that the Fascinate is infinitely better than the Droid X when it comes to black levels?

If I wanted to get a phone with a screen that looks like someone used crayons to draw the colors, I'd get the fAsCiNaTe. Over-saturated color, inaccurate whites, fuzzy text.

If I wanted to get a phone with accurate colors, white that looks white and sharp text, I'd get the X.

To the OP, the one area where Motorola devices tend to shine is in call reception and call quality. Plus features like noise cancellation make this the device to choose. Plus Moto's are generally built like tanks. You'll see this right away when picking them up. I prefer the metal case of the X as opposed to plastic, but some like the light weight.

Some may like the DX screen, others may perfer the fuzzy text and oversaturated color screen of the SF. Yes, it does pop, but the next time you can't get white to look white, you'll get tired of it quickly.

Hardware wise, both devices are very close. They share basically the same processor, but the SF has the better GPU. Sill, for everyday use, there's no benefit, and a battery detriment to that extra power.

Web browsing battery performance is approximately double for the Droid X. Movies are similar. Simply stated, you'll be able to watch longer or browse longer with the X.

Interface is a mixed bag, some like or hate Motoblur, some like or hate Samsung TouchWiz. Touchwiz looks prettier, but blur is more functional. Plus, if some are complining about lag on the X, take a stroll over to the Fascinate forum and look at all the lag fixes they have if you root.

Both are very capable devices. But capability on paper only matters if it works. A device that can't hold on to calls, has poor reception and GPS capabilities is not going to please many consumers.

You want to switch for a reason, and you won't be disappointed to get those functions that actually work.

When I was young and color TVs were a novelty and even after they became the norm, I'd go to people's homes and wonder why they had it set to where the color would bleed. They looked at me like I was nuts when I told them they had the color set too high. Bugged the crap out of me!

Seems as though this has come to an end............ with TVs............Thank God!

The contrast ratio on the fascinate approaches infinity because the blacks are so black. But, as mentioned the fascinate's brightness is not as bright as the X's.

I'm a sucker for the screens on the fascinate and I love the form factor of that phone... but, I bought an X because I wanted a reliable and accurate GPS and (first and foremost) a very good phone (reception, mic quality and earpiece sound quality).

The bootloader is the only issue I have with the X... but even that doesn't bother me much since froyo is released. If the locked bootloader prevents me from loading gingerbread in the future... then I'll be ticked off.

Seems life is full of little tradeoffs. The X minimizes them for me.

You will be missing Samsung's amazing customer support. You will miss them releasing new phones with the same issues that were surfaced when their original phones in a series were released because they didn't bother to fix them. You will miss their quick fixes to these issues. You will miss their continual support through the next 2 years.

I used a SF this weekend. My brother in law bought one for his daughter. He got the DX of course. I setup a bunch of apps on my Nieces phone. One of them was so her dad can track her wherever she goes. She hates me now. She says that my violation of her phone didn't do any favors for our relationship

The colors do pop, but photos don't look right on it. The form factor has a plastic cheesy feel. The membrane buttons suck. I like the real clicky buttons on the DX. I like the brightness. I like the dense metal feel. I feels like sony walkmans did back in the early 80s when they were solid metal and looked expensive before they became injection molded plastic crap.

I like the GPS on the DX much better. The SF could not get a lock in doors while the DX had no problem.

Given that, my brother in law in now thinking about swaping her phones
