So, I just upgraded to the Fascinate from an HTC Touch Pro 2. I HATED that phone with a fiery passion. It had so many bugs, it was SO damn slow (to the tune of waiting ~30 seconds after clicking a contact to open up their info), etc. Just an awful phone overall.

So far, I'm really liking the fascinate. The lack of an LED is disappointing, and I REALLY hate the on/off button. Who decided to make it recessed and right across from the volume rocker? I can't turn the screen on or off w/out changing the volume. My volume rocker is also loose and makes a rattling noise which I'm not too happy about, but I did get the phone for $100, so I can't complain too much. What I am ecstatic about, though, is that I've been using the phone for 14 hours so far today and I still have a 1/4 battery life yet. Amazing.

So, few questions..

For one, I have facebook on the phone. When I first activated it, I told it to sync all of my contacts on facebook to contacts on my phone. It has synced several times since then, but none of my contacts have their picture pulled or anything. I even unsynced/resynced facebook, and no dice. Since then I'm also downloaded a FB app and that hasn't done anything either. Am I just doing something wrong?

Secondly, is there any way other than using the vol rocker to increase my ringtone sound? I'm using the same ringtone I used on my last phone, but it's super quiet on this one. So quiet that I can't really hear it in my pocket if there is outside noise near me.

Thirdly, is it possible to remove the icons that come on the phone? I really hate that the phone came loaded with a gazillion apps that I literally never plan on using, yet I can't remove them. I hate how Verizon always seems to load my phones up with garbage that they won't let me remove!

Thanks for any help guys

1.) Regarding FB, I couldn't get my pictures to sync as well, so I found a different solution. There's a program on market called "syncmypix" its free and it'll sync your facebook pictures for you, assuming you spelled your contacts name exactly the same as the FB name.

2.) Not very good with customizing ringtones, sorry can't help you there!

3.) I think you're referring those "icons" as bloatware. Yes, VZW gives us a ton of crap. You can only remove the bloat if you root your phone. In my signature are a few helpful links and you can find anything else you want to do to your phone there.

All the best!

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I tried that "syncmypix", and it fails to download a single picture. No idea why as nearly all of my contacts are my facebook friends with identical names.

I also tried that menu > get friends, but when I click the facebook icon, it just does nothing. I have facebook synced to my phone, so I have no idea what's wrong.

Well, I got it to work. Unfortunately, it worked too well and pulled all 500+ friends of mine from facebook, when I only wanted it to sync contacts that I already had in my phone. Is there any way to do that? I really have no need for all these contacts as a good majority of my friends are just people I met once at a party and added me, and it's cluttering up my contacts.

The phone also did this when I synced my gmail account, and pulled in every single contact I've ever emailed (i.e I had contacts in my phone from people I had fired off an email 5 years ago to) and I had to go in and delete all 280+ contacts one at a time. Very frustrating!
