Might be old news. UK Release Date

This is probably a really dumb question so apologies in advance, but can someone explain why you would want to buy a sim free phone? Surely its more expensive to buy the phone and then have to sign up to a contract than just signing a contract where you get the phone free?

OK, I'm gonna chuck my own personal tuppence-worth in here.

I'm with Vodafone on a sim-only 30 day rolling contract. I get 500 texts, 600 mins (anytime/anyone) and 500Mb per month for

I called Phones4U in Kingston and they said they have it in stock, but it's only available on contract on Orange and Vodafone.

Anyone been reading the XDA forums lately? Few people on there have claimed they have now got their hands on the HTC Desire HD from Phones4U. And i know for a fact one is being sold on Ebay right now and it came from Phones4U because i messaged the seller and he told me. Has proof of purchase, etc. Simfree as well and the colour is dark brown.

Here's his listing on Ebay:

HTC DESIRE HD UNLOCKED BNIB on eBay (end time 19-Oct-10 19:23:22 BST)

Out of interest, anyone know what price was paid for this Sim free an P4U??

I'm guessing some stores will insist it's only available on contract and some will sell it sim free. I've seen this before when talking to P4U.

hi dave
that sounds a good deal as an upgrade will it be branded though and locked to voda?

If direct through Voda you can bet it will be branded. Historically speaking, most HTC phones have been Voda branded.

Clicked and didnt show..ah well.

Item has been removed lol, someone is in trouble

Same.

Something strange is going on as that listing is still in 'My Ebay' saved in my 'Watch' list. It hasn't been removed at all. But for some reason when you click on the link in here it says item has been removed. Not sure what's going on.

How much it go for?

I got mine from them on Saturday, it was a stroke of luck because i was only there to ask about dates, and I didn't know they sold sim free phones. They told me they had 3 delivered on Saturday afternoon, and charged 450.

Yeah its brown / copper. Liking it so far, it's a big change from my old phone - a HTC Magic running 1.6. I think the screen is gorgeous and I'm enjoying the speed as apps and the internet were quite laggy on my magic. Still getting used to HTC Sense, but like it. Not 100% sure about syncing contacts with Facebook and Twitter. That all looks a bit messy, but i havent really looked at the options yet.

i undersrood the processor was a newer snapdrgon on the HD? This says its the same as the Desires...

It is an updated version

Go to the official website ;)

On another note;

T-Mobile's deals funny enough work out cheaper in some sense than just about any on the market if you play your cards right lol.
