AT&T asking customers to reduce video streaming/heavy data use

AT&T evidently has a new campaign to get iPhone users to reduce the amount of video streaming and other data intensive activities they engage in, and may start charging them based on data use.

Their network just can't handle current data levels, and AT&T can't get it updated fast enough to handle the data requirements.

Kind of blows up the ads they've had on TV showing how great their network coverage "really is." :D

Already been giving my iPhone buddy a hard time showing off my Droid to him, now I'm really going to have some fun at his expense. ;)

That's the main reason I left AT&T. During the day I was dropping 3+ calls, and the sound quality was terrible. At night it was ok, although still dropped a call three times while traveling from the middle of NJ to the edge of PA on my commute home.

Today, I drove 100 miles from Harrisburg PA to Easton PA while listening to a 64kibt/sec internet radio station the entire time. Never dropped the connection to the station. Have not dropped a call in the month I have had the phone. Incredible.

Although, I must admit the limitation of not being able to talk and use the internet has burned me a few times, (evernote and talking to somone), its still far better than dropping muliple calls a day!

So now, AT&T customers get bad coverage, and they have to pay for the privilege. Sheesh.

Don't you have to have 3g to do the internet/phone thing? if thats the case wouldn't there own network coverage burn there users since they basically have 3g NOWHERE....

First Verizon blasts AT&T for having spotty 3g coverage. Then AT&T thinks they can win people over with their ads claiming they have nationwide coverage. No mention of 3G nationwide coverage though hmm. Then they get voted WORST of all the carriers. Now they can't handle the data requirements HA! Someone bring Cingular back

Interesting, didn't know that.

If I where in a better coverage area, I would have switched to T mobile for the G1 a year ago! I'm actually very happy with verizon, its amazing they didn't cripple the Droid!
