blank SMS sent on boot

I'm writing this for my girlfriend, but I have observed it first hand - I'm not just going on her word. (I'm in IT - I understand people make simple mistakes.)

Every time she power cycles the phone, specifically when it powers up - it sends a blank text message to one of her contacts, the same one every time. Needless to say *her ex* is getting tired of it.

Since the recent update it's now sending blank messages to 2 of her contacts.

Has anyone else experienced this? How can I help diagnose the issue?

Known issue with the included SMS app.

Go into the conversations and clear out the "unsent" SMS's. This will fix the problem. As will the update.

The update didn't clear the issue, it's now sending 2 blank messages on boot.
Also, I have had her clear her unsent messages and that didn't take care of it.

Any other suggestions?

But if already had the OTA update, and I thought the update was supposed to fix this issue.

I have'nt updated mine yet, and I had this happen to me before, but what Needsdecaf already advised worked for me.
