My Eris had been flaking out. More often than not I will get a incoming call and the entire time it is ringing my Eris is completely unresponsive. So naturally, I mis the call. Now I figure I'll call them back.. I try to use the history, wont work, use phone book, wont work, manual dial, still nothing until I do a reboot.

In addition, when I dial a cal or use my phone book, it takes a good 3 - 4 minuted for the phone to actually dial the number, all the while sitting there like I hadn't dialed at all. A couple times I actually tried a second time, and the phone will hang up in the middle of the call and redial the number.

My phone works good for everything except being a phone. Anyone else having this issue? I tried a reset and the problem lessened but never actually went away.

When i fist saw this phone i thought it was going to be Verizon's version of the iPhone. Well i was completely wrong about that. The droid Eris is the worst phone ever created by man and probably will always be the worst phone created by man. when i try to text someone my cursor will just start to move to the beginning of the entry box, then it will just freeze and i would have to close messages. Also while on the home screen the phone will think that I'm touching the screen and start to move the last home page all the way to the left and then freeze. I don't know how this phone is still on the market. The droid Eris definitely does not have enough ram on it to just run the messages app that came with the phone. Don't get me wrong i believe that the tings that the Droid OS can do are quite amazing, but its the wrong kind of phone for it. It seems like the only way for any of the apps to work right is to just put them on a computer and use the computer as a phone. I would rather buy a Nokia 3310 from 2000 then use the Droid Eris. But what can u expect Verizon has had some of the worst phones ever. For example the LG Dare was another horrible phone and the LG Envy Touch was another bad one. I think that Verizon should just give out new phones to everyone who has the Eris as a reimbursement for selling the world's crappiest phone. Verizon should just sell the phone for a penny for those people who actually like to wait 5 mins to open a text message , cause that's how much i think it's worth.

It seems to be fairly common that the Eris has an issue with the trackball. It's a hardware problem that manifests itself as you describe - the phone is continuously sensing that the trackball is trying to roll to the left. Call VZW or visit a store and you will get a warranty replacement (that is, if it is still under warranty. It's hard to believe, but the phone was released now more than 12 months ago. so if you were one of the early adopters it may be out of warranty.)

I did call those them and they are sending me a new phone but im going to see how the new phone is and if its any worse (which i think it will be) then ill just drop verizon and go to another company. Because this is ridiculous.

I have the phantom 'scroll left', mess up text entry, and scroll to the top of the app drawer issue too. Sometimes it's just intermittent, but it's been getting to the point that the phone is absolutely unusable. After a few nights on the phone with tech support (who told me that if none of their troubleshooting worked, they'd send me a refurb Eris) I just got a super-nice agent who acknowledged that this was a known hardware issue, and that he had that same problem with his Eris. He then acknowledged that a lot of the refurbs have problems too, and decided to send me an incredible!! If I were in your shoes, I would keep calling tech support until you get an agent with some empathy and brains.
