Help EVI is Going Back ! Cant believe my battery luck

Been complaining about my moment something terrbile. Went Friday spent the money and renewed my contract to get the EVO. The guy warned me about the bettery on the Evo being bad. I didnt listen since my frined in work plays with his for 3 hours before getting a low battery. Heres the deal......

Got the Evo and charged it friday from 11am till 4pm. Light turned green full battery. Didt mess with it much cause I got busy. Had 3 calls about 5 minutes each. Got on the internet for 10 minutes. Phone had gone down 1 bar at 8pm and didnt use it after that. Went to work at midnight to work overtime to pay for the phone, pulled it out at 2am "RECHARGE BATTERY". Ok, charged the battery from 2am till 5:30am... "full charge". Played with the phone about 10 minutes setting it up, made a 10 minute call, 8am when I got home played with it for 5 minutes. Took a nap, woke up at 1pm, RECHARGE BATTERY. Ok, charged it from 1am till 6pm. Green light, battery charged. Made 3 calls, looked on facebook for 10 minutes, sent 5 text messages, went down 1 bar. From 8pm till 3am I slept. Woke up at 3am, grabbed the phone, it was turned off. Turned it back on, powered up, "RECHARGE BATTERY", phone shut back off. THIS IS RIDICULOUS WITH THESE PHONE BATTERYS. Im going today at 10am to Redio Shack and take this thing back. I dont know if its my luck with phones or what but this is crazy. Hell, my moment battery lasted a lot longer for me than the EVO. Oh, not to mantion I have to pay for 4g and the service aint in my area. (south side of chicago). Im throwing in the towel, getting my moment turned back on, and I hope Radio Shack dont give me a hard time returning this phone and going back to my old contract. Im not in a good mood from wasting time getting this EVO.

I do believe manufactures say to charge the battery for 12-24 hours before first use.

Ok... talked to my buddy to. Gonna charge it for 12 hours today and see if it improves. Hope its not to late.

I had a Moment and now a Evo and my experience has been that the Evo while not great goes longer on a charge than the Moment. This should help. Also, consider calibrating the battery. Unfortunately, the calibration technique for the Evo is a bit more involved than the Moment. IMHO, the Evo is vastly superior to the Moment in every way. Good luck.

I hit an easy 24hrs on a single charge with my Evo with light usage (ie. phone calls, texting, some internet, but no GPS or games).

But with heavy usage, I'll be lucky to hit 6 hours.

I called Radio Shack today and I have 30 days with the new EVO. If it dont work out I will return it. I have had it on charge for the last 10 hours. I will change all the settings as recomended in the link provided. I do love the fact that the EVO dont have all the bugs my moment did. I hope it works out cause I really fo like the way the EVO is set up and the big screen is awesome.

I will change the settings tomorow and keep this updated..

Check your update/sync settings. Generally only have weather update once an hour, and other even less. The more updates you retrieve the less battery life you will get.

So far so good. I charged the EVO for 12 hours yesterday, unplugged it around 6pm last night, played with it for about 15 minutes, left it unplugged all night, made 3 calles this morning and sent 15 text messages, 15 hours later .... full battery ! All I did was disable the GPS. On one of the screen it has a widget to turn it on from there real easy.

Glad you got it taking care of. I realllly want an Evo, but my upgrade isn't till April and by it'll be a year old so I'll be looking at what's out around then.

The custom ROMs available for the Evo can help the battery last significantly longer. There are tons of custom ROMs available, and some can help the battery last twice as long.

There is no freaking way you could take my Evo (or my Epic) from my cold dead hands back to the Moment!!!
