Cases for the Moment

my wife just got one for her moment from ebay for $5 shipped i'll take some side by side shots compared to mine with no cover in a few minutes so you can see how much bulk it ads, she likes it, it definatly helps protect the phone, is dirt cheap, the only issue is there isnt a lot of room (which is good) between the sliding parts of the phone so there isnt a lot of room for it to clip in, doesnt seem to cause any strain on it though, still slides fine with no binding, pics coming in a few minutes

okay as promised, sorry it took a while, i was on the phone for 2 hours with mexicana trying to book a flight

side by side and on top of each other, not a huge difference in width or length

it is a bit thicker but not hugely so, the phone is still pretty darn slim

the cutout for the speaker works well and allows the sound to pass through fine

i have noticed NO additional strain/binding/slop/ratteling in the slider compared to the very small ammount of wiggle that comes from the factory, all in all i'd say good buy for the $5 shipped

Thanks for the pics. It is not obvious how it stays attached. Doesn't look like there are little tabs that grab the front surface of the screen or keyboard. I think those are the tabs the people say other cases cause a problem because it forces a larger gap between the two sliding pieces.

So, how does it stay attached and how well?

Thanks.

haha this sucks guys=( is it really that hard for a manufacturer to make a good case for it?
I suppose part of the blame could be placed on samsung/sprint since there hasn't been a single ad for this phone, all i see on tv are iphones and htc. in fact, everybody who sees my phone and are intrigued, they ask "what phone do you have" i tell them. "never heard of it" *figures* haha.

There technically are little tabs but they are barely visible and only about as thick as a hairif that and really don't end up between the sliding parts, I'll get another picture in a while, I'll see if I can find the sellers link but I think most of the ones on ebay are the same, I have had one of these same style clamshells on my mogul for a year and a half with no issues, it stays put well but if you drop the phone a lot, I sometimes do, after a few times

My Best Buy just got in the Invisible Shield for the Moment last night. They said they should be getting cases in soon.

I just stopped @ the Best Buy by me, thanks to the rewards program, I got the Invisible Shield for $1.05 :D

Asked the sales people about cases for the Moment, was told that they most likely wouldn't be carrying anything but generic cases for the Moment because it's a slider phone. I gave him an odd look, because they had a few cases for other slider phones, and he then said "Sprint isn't promoting it. No one knows it exists, and we generally only carry accessories for the popular phones" (last part was said after the Asst Manager had left the area)

What kind of case is the polka dot case? I need something. I am butter fingers and have already dropped my phone into a cup of soda and had to pay $100 for a new one! :( I know the case won't help with h2o damage, but at east if I drop it it will help. On the plus side it would match my rain boots! lol

Also where did you get the fire cover? My phone is so boring!

I'm assuming your talking about the skins on my phone. Got it from Ebay, Sprint Samsung Moment skin skins select ANY 3 sets - eBay (item 230399791476 end time Nov-24-09 21:12:30 PST) not sure how long it will be up. It was a set of 3 skins front and back with matching wallpaper downloads for the phone. I also loaded a screen protector on before that is underneath it. It's ok, not sure how long I'll keep this one. I have two more to try.

I'm looking for a vertical case like this one: Body Glove | Store

Unfortunately although I bought that one on a site that said it was compatible with the Moment, it is not. It's too tight of a fit, enough that undue force is required to pull out the phone, and buttons are pressed in the process. The phone is also too tall as the flap does not stay secured unless I really jam the phone in. Luckily I got it on sale so it will make a good stocking stuffer for a friend with a slightly smaller phone.

Anybody have any suggestions for a similar case that does work well with the Moment? I'd prefer one with a sturdy belt clip that is a metal "money clip" style, not a spring loaded plastic thing. A rotating belt clip would be nice too. The fit should be such that the phone doesn't bounce around much, but loose enough that it slides in and out easily.

Any suggestions?

So how about the link to where she bought it on ebay??

gotta love the trials and tribulations of buying a case for a new phone. So much crap comes out of china it's not even funny. Every time I buy a new phone I must go through 3-4 cases before settling on one. I have a feeling with the bulk of the Moment, I'm going to stick to carrying it naked and put it in a clip type holster when pocketing it isn't an option. Still waiting for the stupid snap on cases and the cheap holsters I ordered the other week. Shipping is so slow. Thankfully my Treo Pro holster fits well. Not that anyone feels like dropping $30 on a holster, but the Seidio innocase holster for the Treo Pro is a very good fit, and their holster for a bare TP2 should be a good fit as well based on the dimensions. The the Moment is slightly taller, but would still allow the spring clip at the top to lock down enough.

I did get an email response from Seidio saying they had no intention of making accessories for the Samsung Moment. Kinda ticked me off. Think everyone should email them to just to bug them. Might make them regret that decision.

think someone posted the holster earlier in the thread. Nice and cheap, and they tend to fit well. You can also save 20% with one of the codes below:

  • Smile20
  • CELLHOLIDAY
  • SCHOOL20

If you know a few that have Moments, or you want some backups, it's worth it to buy a few.

Or you could pick up the Plantronics Discovery 975 BT Headset for $71 by using one of those codes. Then take it one step further and use Bing Cashback for an extra 15% off. Always a chance the BCB gets cancelled because you used a coupon, but the 20% off is still a good deal.

All I want is a good holster. I'm probably going to buy this phone this weekend, but I do NOT store my phones in my pocket. Only holster I've seen so far seems to be outward-facing. That sounds like a brilliant idea to have that giant screen directly facing every object I could slam into and crack it. Has nobody else located a reasonable, well-designed holster yet? Seems crazy to me...

I sent an e-mail to Seidio. We'll see what they say. They've always treated me very well.
