Root A Very Serious Issue, Please Read

I have thought about this, and I am hoping others have as well. I have come from the original Droid to Droid 2. On my original Droid it was much easier to add ROM's and Kernel's, but not as easy with the Droid 2 from which I can see. When I got myself into trouble with a ROM or Kernel on my original Droid, all I would do is just reboot the phone and hold down the power button and the X button, and I would go directly into ClockworkMod, and then do a restore. On my Droid 2, if my phone decides not to reboot into the main screen after installing a ROM or Kernel, I am not going to be able to get to the Droid 2 Bootstrap program that is my portal to the ClockworkMod Recovery. I see a major headache here. Can anyone shed some light here? Thanks.

When the phone is off...
turn it on, wait for the m logo to disappear
pull the battery. turn it on again.

Moving forward, please don't type in bold, it's difficult to read for some. Also, your title should be more descriptive, I came in thinking it was a toasted phone. No worries, but a title like "Rebooting issue after ROM install" helps people search a similar issue instead of passing this one by, or the search engine not getting this one properly.

Sorry about the bold and the heading. Does pulling the battery out and putting it back in take you into the Clockworkmod Recovery, or what does it actually do? Thank you, and sorry again for what I did.

Pulling the battery does not take me to Clockwork Recovery when I put it back in. The only way to get there for me is Koush's bootstrap app. Otherwise you can pull battery, put it back in, hold "X" on keyboard and power button until a triangle appears. When it does press the magnifying glass on the keyboard and you will be in Stock Recovery.

Long story short, I tried putting fission onto my cousins droid 2 and I think what I did wrong was that I wiped the system also after wiping data and cache 3x. So now all I get is the M symbol and I can get to stock recovery. I do have a current backup on there but don't know how to get to clockwork without using bootstrap. Is my only option using rsd lite? I also appreciate all the work you did for the droid 1 btw.
