Am I the only one that has run out of room for apps?

I'm really surpised there are not more posts about this, so I must be missing something. I've used up all 256 MB of space with apps. I add more apps I must uninstall some. To me, this is a little ridiculous, I don't feel like I have that many apps.

Is there a way to use SD card storage to install apps? I'm still running 2.0.1 but I'm working on upgrading the software.

Thanks.

Eddie

Don't forget that cache and data for your apps uses the same space.

Number of apps or gut feeling really aren't important. It's the actual space (not all apps use the same amount) of all your apps + cache + data. It sounds to me like you need to take a look at your device and figure out what's actually using up your space.

Apps are growing in size by the day. This is what I say is the downside of Android phones, they are obsolete after 6 months.
A device isn't obsolete just because there's something newer on the market, despite what consumers apparently tend to believe.

This was the main reason I rooted back when I did.. If you use a lot of apps and have the D1, I don't see how you cannot be rooted nowadays

agreed. it was my #2 reason - overclock speed was #1 - back when I rooted. and now, on a D1, I move almost all apps to the SD card but a few that are on my home screen and cause lag if they are on the SD card and on your home screen and/or are widgets. 2 known issues with moving an app to the SD card than can cause lag and slow reboot and response times.

Yup, you're the only one ;) For me, I've just installed some of the bigger apps that I can't move to SD, like this Children's Book app I have for my kid. Since he doesn't use it, I just uninstalled it. It sits there on the market as a paid app. If and when I need it, I'll just download it. But I tend to houseclean once in a while evaluating what apps I really do use and which apps I keep because "I may use it," which invariably, I never use.

Do you need to be rooted to run Apps2SD?

no, you can use Apps2SD non-rooted.

BUT being rooted allows you to move apps the devs did not program as movable. So, of the say 100 NOT system apps I have, 40 are "native" moveable with Apps2SD but all 100 are movable if rooted :)

rooting just allows you to force move them even if the dev did not design them to be moved.

and you cant move system apps of course

but hey, on the D1's weenie 256mb of memory, some moving is better then nothing at all I say so even if you do not want to root, consider Apps2SD method and if you do want to root.. then the door is wide open
