Password management app: Any good recommendations? SplashID is terrible

I have been using SplashID for almost 5 years, starting on a Palm Treo and when I bought my Sprint Hero I bought SplashID for Android (which was a rip-off at $30). I liked SplashID for Palm, but the Android version is awful. It's clunky, slow, unintuitive, and the worst part of all: not secure. I have the program set to auto-lock upon exit, yet sometimes when I go back and click on the icon, it opens without even having to enter my password!

The first time this happened, I almost dropped my phone is shock. The entire purpose of SplashID is to encrypt sensitive data (like passwords) and here it just opened without entering my password.

Deal-breaker. I will never again give this company another cent for such a horrible program failure.

So, I need another encrypted password management app. Can anyone recommend a really good, secure, password manager app? I will use it daily (unfortunately SplashID is my most used program) so I want it to be very robust and easy to use.

Thanks!

I could not agree more. Its like Splashdata is purposely sabotaging all their Android apps. Its not like theyre #1 in the Apple Appstore or something. Splashid and Splashmoney are both extremely poorly written Android apps. What I dont understand is why make the apps so completely terrible out the gate when the least you could do is code the apps with the minimum functionality of their Palm counterparts and go from there. People would stay loyal to them. I've purchased Splashid, and Splashmoney on Palm, Winmo, and Iphone, thank heavens Google has(or had) a 24 hour trial period or I would have wasted my money on the Android versions. Kind of weird Splashdata would care so little about keeping a loyal customer base. Maybe they have a different focus now and are getting out of the app business. Who knows.

Is LastPass really a password manager app?

I'm looking for something that stores on my phone and also sync's with my PC (or in the cloud).

Thanks,
-v

That is exactly what lastpass is. On your android phone, lastpass works in two ways. The first is the app which you open up, and all of your passwords and secure notes (passwords, credit card info, SS#s, whatever you want) are accessible. These are synced to the cloud so you can access them from phone, or pc. The second way it works on android is if you use the popular Dolphin HD browser. There is a plugin so that when you are browsing on android with Dolphin, lastpass will manage your logins (auto log you in, auto save new sites, create strong passwords...) That's the brilliant thing about lastpass, you just need to remember your one lastpass password and no matter where you are, pc, phone or even offline, your one password gives you access to all of your sensitive data and passwords. Check out Lifehacker's write ups about lastpass and check out the lastpass site to explain more and how strong their system is. This program has received many accolades and is worth the $1/month for the mobile version IMO.

Edit: It will also auto fill forms

That's how I use KeePass. The password database is in my Dropbox, so any changes made are sync'd automatically to all devices.

Maybe you could take a look at the Wallet app I mentioned earlier? The UI is very nice and the developer monitors feedback at the reddit/android subforum. Link to app: Wallet - Android app on AppBrain

why not create a password protected and encrypted Word 2007 Document and save all of your passwords to it? then use Documents To Go to open it on your Android and Word 2007 to open it on your PC. lastly - create a free Dropbox account and place the Word file in your Dropbox folder and access it from anywhere in the world from any device. this way you won't be at the mercy of some mom & pop proprietary black box app.

here is how i set up my simple free flow encrypted password protected MS Word Document. you can use "DATA" as the file name or whatever you like. i'd keep it vauge so as to not make it a target. the rest are the headings for each category. within each category is a simple sentence for each vendor containing the applicable information - vendor name, account #, PIN, username, password, telephone number, etc. each vendor has a single line. use the CAPITAL LETTER headings for each category to make them easy to find and to keep organized. enjoy.

ATM PINS

CHECKING AND SAVINGS ACCOUNTS

ONLINE BANKING

INVESTMENTS

COMPUTER

EMPLOYERS

TECHNOLOGY PROVIDERS

UTILITIES

AUTOMOBILE

INSURANCE

RETAILERS AND SERVICES

VALUABLES

I haven't had any problems with SplashID on my Android yet, thank goodness, but what you experienced, Vesbon, would really be terrible. I agree with you too about how SplashData has really lost their potential Android customer base. :( I liked them a lot but had to find different apps for SplashPhoto and SplashShopper too..so sad

Thanks for the tip on this program. I was starting to give up on trying to find a secure private storage app that was well made and fits what I required. "Wallet" is just that program.
