Recommending Go Launcher (was "New Launcher!" and "Go Sms"))

What's with people complaining that LPP is slow? It's by far the fastest Launcher that I have used. There is zero lag with it, especially compared to Blur. I messed with Go for awhile and while it was pretty smooth, LPP was still noticeably faster.

I absolutely love this launcher. My only gripe with it is that the dock doesn't display the texts I receive. With launcher pro it would work just fine, but with this one, I can't seem to get it to work. Hopefully they fix this issue soon cause i'm really enjoying this launcher.

A reasonable assumption is that it may depend on your phone's specific configuration. I find Go to be a faster/smoother on my phone than LPP, but it is by no means a huge difference. Maybe there its something about the way widgets, number of screens, icons on each desktop, etc. that is different from phone to phone that makes a noticeable difference?

For my setup, Go is worth dealing with the bugs over LPP. Yours isn't, but you are by no means alone, just in the minority.

I haven't tried Go Launcher yet. I was a big ADW fan for many months, but eventually it would always start to lag. Factory resets would speed it back up, but eventually some lag appeared again. I did give LP a run for a while, and it lagged much worse than ADW. I then tried Zeam, and wow that is a lag free launcher! Yes, Zeam is much lighter/simpler, but that is why it moves so much better IMHO. Only thing I wish it did was the abitility to add more icons to screens ala ADW/LPP. With the advent of ADW EX I have bee tempted to spend some dollars and put that beauty on my phone, but I expect it to lag with all the eye candy. In the end I'll stick with the very fast Zeam for now.

Can you use custom icons for the dock yet? I thought I remember reading you had to use the stock GL ones but I could be wrong...

You can do custom icons with Go Launcher.

i have a question. i just downloaded go launcher and really like it. i am probably going to keep it as my default. since i am running apex 1.3.1 which comes with ADW, how can i uninstall ADW. i went into applications and it only gave my the option to uninstall updates. also, when i go into spare parts and look at usage statistics, go launcher is number one, and adw is number two, so does that mean that adw is still running and eating up battery?

well, I uninstalled GoL today. I gave it a couple more days of test driving and watched my battery drain away again. After unplugging this morning I didnt even use the phone for anything other than to check battery status and it was down to 80% in a little over two hours. I read through the development thread at XDA and it seems others have had this issue since the latest update. The guy seems to be on top of things when peeps call them out so Ill give it another go when its updated again. I like it but havent fell in love yet.

Yes! that was a feature in one of the latest updates. However, I used a custom dock size 480x84 and after I would reboot it would be gone. I dunno if it had something to do with the theme or the rom but I will give it another go.

Not here to argue but ive been running LPP+ again and monitoring battery use and keeping phone use the same (just checking battery use, no phone or www.) and ive been 4 hours and used only 10% from a full charge. same apps installed and even a few more widgets.

Ill be back again im sure, Ive used 7 screens and needing more!

I'm not sure if I know what feature you speak of. Glide? Do tell.

How is go sms? Is it worth trying? Im a stock messaging app guy myself. Aosp messaging that is.

Pretty sure it's only just started since the 1.4 update earlier today.

Can anyone else confirm?

If so, this needs to be fixed ASAP.

my "running" is normal i guess (checked in spare parts and im only at 41%). i was actually getting 100% BEFORE the update, but i think that was because i was using the phone alot that day...

I rebooted a couple of times and I think my running time is ok. I'm petty sure I rebooted before I posted.

Either way looks like a false alarm.

JUST DL GL today and have found same problem. Looks like back to LP for me. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Very odd cause my missed calls show up just fine in the dock.

I can't seem to get custom icons to work with this launcher? Is there something I'm missing? I get this error when clicking custom icons:

"The application is not installed in your phone"


EDIT:: I apparently had the "Gallery" app frozen in Titanium Backup. Defrosting it fixed this issue!

Back from vacay. I've been running golauncher (updated on the market) and it seems fine. Glitches fixed. Like it a lot. Not laggy like my LPP
