Help How can I synk google calendar to EVO without a computer

How can I synch google calendar to EVO without a computer.

I want to upload or (import) an .ICS file to Google Calendar from my EVO.
I can download the ics calendar to my evo.
when I goto google calendar under my calendars and select import calendar, I get a new window that says import calendar choose file.
If you have Astro file manager installed on your phone it will actually let you choose your file I.E. an ICS file which I have located on my SD card. When you choose this file and select import It says "Failed to import events Empty uploaded file."
When this exact same action is done on a computer it works flawlessly, what gives i cant carry my computer everywhere and I need to update my google calendar. Please help with any ideas
Thanks

Check under Menu then Settings Then Accounts & Sync and then Google. Make sure Sync Calendar is checked off. Mine syncs perfectly fine. This works as long as you have a your Google account set up of course.

Thanks for the tip, I have that slected. I have no problem getting the EVO to dispay my google calendar events when uploaded through my PC to the google calendar website. I just want to do this without a PC. Using just the EVO and nothing else. If there is anyway to do this I would love to know. Using the same route through the EVO browser trying to uplaod the ICS file off my SD card does not work (see previous post for details).

No this does not work through gmail in the evo browser or any browser used on the evo. uploading ics files for calendar only work through a PC browser. So again if anyone has found a work around for this im still awaiting an answer
Thanks

It sounds like your gmail account in your phone is not attached to the gmail account with your calender.

Syncing on the phone happens without the use of a browser.

Do you get gmail email messages on the phone? Do you have more than one gmail account? Could the account that the phone is syncing with, be different than the one you're syncing to on the PC?

If you have more than one gmail account, syncing the ICS file using your PC (to the same account that is attached to your phone), should result with your phones calendar being accurate after a sync.

guys, he is not trying to sync his calendar. he has saved a calendar on his sd card...and needs to upload it/import it to gmail calendars. as of right now I do not think that this function is supported. i had been wondering myself if it could be done but by your example it appears it can only currently be done via a pc

I'm just trying to read between the lines...

Doesn't the calender on your phone sync with the calender in Gmail? Mine does.

It stands to reason that his phone calender is not accurate, right?

If his phone calender is not accurate, but he can sync the Gmail calender via a PC, then either his phone isn't looking at the right Gmail account, or it's not syncing.

Do it once from a PC and the phone will be accurate.

What he doesn't state, is if his main calender program is something other than Gmail and this process is something that needs to be done on a regular basis and that calender program is on a computer that does not have an internet connection but can connect to the phone. If so, he's screwed.

Until he chimes in who knows. From my understanding he is trying to upload a calendar file he has found on the web...dloaded to his phone and UPLOAD IT TO GMAIL. This is easily done from a pc. Import calendar then sync the phone and done. The gmail server/program does not understand that he is trying to import the calendar when doing it from the phone thus it fails. For those that don't know...many schools and other websites have Ivan files that you can load and then import to your calendar. I did this with my sons school calendar...but from a computer. If I understand correctly he is trying to do the same but without using a computer at all

Hi guys thanks for keeping this thread going and you are right Im not talking about synching and I have used the synch word incorrectly. My Evo synchs perfectly, the problem lies with uploading the ICS file to Gmail Calendar (I have only one Gmail account). I get an ICS file from my work website monthly and must upload it to gmail calendar. This is easy to do from a PC or MAC through any browser. But when executed from the browser of my EVO android 2.2 it does not work. I have literally tried this on every browser I could download to the EVO including the stock browser and every time it fails.
Just looking for an easy way to upload my ICS file to gmail calendar. I have tried sending it to my Gmail account as an attachent and opening it in gmail on my phone. This does not work. I have also tried many app on android that claim to be able handle ICS but none work. So if anyone has a solution I would love to be privy to the answer.
Thanks

So I take it that you can't do this upload from work?

If not, and you don't have a PC to do it from, I think you're out of luck.

When I go to my Gmail calendar with my phone and select to use Desktop version instead of the mobile version I get an error message saying that it doesn't support my browser. It'll show the calendar anyway but parts of it are missing. If I elect to use the mobile site, other parts of the site are missing that normally show up when using a computer.

Anyone know of an Android browser that allows user agent switching?

I have had great luck viewing as desktop with skyfire. I have yet to try uploading anything via browser. I will attempt to mess with it today. I would imagine it would be the same as going to photobucket.com or even facebook and trying to upload pictures and video via the phone browser vs the apps themselves and it has always been my understanding this simply can't be done (yet)
