couldnt wait so i tried it. it works so far, having issue logging into gmail for auto sync but im only about 3 min into playing with this.
and for those wondering it didnt affect any of the downloaded apps or anything so far and even my wallpaper stayed the same.
and as far as the gmail you just have to open your gmail app and resign into it is all

I've been running this since Wednesday. It seems faster than Eclair. A couple applications have disappeared from the Menu, while at least one new one has appeared. One app got renamed. The home screen looks different, and we've gained two, for a new total of five.

I was surprised that the update didn't wipe the phone as I suspected it might. I went ahead and performed a Factory Data Reset anyway, as I wanted to reload my 3rd party applications. Funny thing is, none of the apps I have been using allow for installation to the memory card. That's a shame because I wanted to see if app performance would change running off the card versus running off the phone. I reinstalled Launcher Pro and Home Switcher, but have not yet used either, as I like the new default launcher, and five screens seem to be enough.

One new app I've installed is Angry Birds. I've been using it on my Mesmerize, and wanted to see how it would perform on this device. I haven't gotten to play it much yet, but so far, its performance has been good.

Unfortunately, because this is a Stepping 6 version of the ARM CPU, we won't have Flash 10. Also, the update didn't give us the availability for Live wallpapers.

That said, Froyo adds better support for Microsoft Exchange OTA syncing, and the phone can now be used as a portable hotspot (with a tethering plan of course).

One thing I try to do with the Acclaim is to keep it at 100MB or better of device free space. Below that and performance seems to degrade quickly. Once below 75MB, problems like freezing and auto-shutdowns begin to occur.

installed yesterday. So far seems good. Did have some lagging here and there that I didn't see in a while but hasn't happened today.

I was able to move some apps to the SD card, great for internal space.

Only thing I'm not liking in the change is having to press the power button to wake phone now instead of the square at the bottom of the phone. Tried finding a setting for this to no avail.

It seems to me that Flash is not available for the Acclaim or am I wrong?

I agree. I more often than not used the bottom square to wake it.

Also, is there a way to not let the screen rotate to the right but still go to the left as it was set up before?

Downloaded and it worked great for one of our phones here but had issues installing USB drivers on another phone.

I updated my boss's phone without any problem but now I am trying to update my phone the same way and I keep getting errors from windows when it tries to install the device drivers. I have tried it on 2 different Vista machines and one Win 7 machine. All fail to install/recognize the USB drivers for the phone.

However I don't have issues mounting the SD card when the phone is running normally. I have only experienced these driver issues while trying to update the phone.

Very strange that one of my phones worked great and the other can't get past the USB drivers.

I will update this thread if I find a solution.

SammyAcclaim, is the problem phone running any anti-virus or firewall (security) software? If so, either uninstall or disable, then try again.

I believe the change to the square OK button not waking the phone was a fix. In your pocket, it is far easier to hit that OK button than the power button up top. Battery life!

Solved the issue.

Installed the driver file listed with the update from the samsung website.

I tried installing the driver before running the software update and it installed successfully but the update software still didn't recognize it. I re-installed the driver file with the phone plugged into the PC while the update software was asking for that the first time around.

After I did that I was able to click next and complete the rest of the update.

2.3 is running well as of now. I need to start moving apps to the card see how that works out.

Verry disappointed flash 10 is not available for us. OR live wallpaper. What good did this update do us besides tethering? Which with PDAnet I could do for free anyways.

Really what did this update bring to the table for us? Don't say changed the home screen because LauncherPro or ADWLauncher EX does home launching better anyways.
I'm just disappointed flash still is not available for this phone.

disfunktional, both Flash 10 and Live Wallpapers are unavailable due to hardware limitations of the phone. The minimum requirements for Live Wallpapers are set by Google, while the requirements for Flash 10 are set by Adobe. For Flash 10, I believe the minimums are a Stepping 7 CPU at 800MHz, and the Acclaim has a Stepping 6 CPU running at 800MHz. Not sure what the requirements to run Live Wallpapers are.

Personally, I've noticed increased speed on my Acclaim since the upgrade. I'm not sure how this is obtained, since Android System Info still reports the phone's CPU with a BogoMIPS score of 199 and change, unchanged from what it was pre-update.

I believe the annoying issue with the Search function popping up unattended was corrected as well.

Let us not forget the biggie about being able to run apps from the SD card. For the Acclaim, with its relatively limited space and horsepower, that will prove to be huge as developers move to make their applications compatible with the feature.

For those who use an Android for business, the increased Microsoft Exchange support will be welcomed.
