Ted Williams - fantastic video

I was gonna post this video previously but decided not to. I think you guys are being a bit harsh on the dude. Yeah, he was an addict and he has made his mistakes but at least this one has supposedly been clean for some time now and since he signed on with the Cavs is attempting to better himself. Get off your high horses folks.

Williams, 53, has been busted for theft, robbery, escape, forgery, and drug possession.

Dan added that his company shares a lot with a Lowe’s store, and he has seen Williams stealing items from cars parked by customers visiting the home improvement firm. “He’s basically been a thief for the past two years,”

And of course, being clean for 2 years was a lie. If he had been clean for 2 years, chances are he wouldn't still be jobless and homeless.

Ted Williams Rehab Stint Coming Just in Time? - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com

I guess there's just a shortage of young kids with great voices just out of broadcasting school, huh?

No, there is not. Thats the problem with all this. This guy screws off his life, abandons 6 kids and wants nothing more than to be a junky. Then because everyone wants some feel good story, he gets all this just handed to him. While kids that did everything right and followed all the rules still have to do things the old fashion way... work and good choices.

This guy pissed me off the first time I heard about all this.

Why I waited till the dirt came out on him. He is nothing more than a deadbeat father that abandoned his wife and kids. They should stick him back on the street corner they found him. After all he lied to everyone of being clean from drugs and alcohol on tv on more than one occasion.

Yeah god blessed him with a talent, but he squandered that talent.

Funny thing is some of those mug shots he looks like a dirtier version of our president obama lol.

too much emphasis is placed on fixing mess ups.... how about you just don't mess up... lets put more emphasis on that.
But i believe some thought HAS to be on redemption. Not saying he deserves it, or is entitled to it. Just that every once and a while its good to hear someone can turn it around.
I was impressed with this until I heard his predicament was due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Sorry, no respect points for that. Learn to say no the first time, every time.
Again, drugs and alcohol addiction is a SERIOUS problem that touches/affects MILLIONS. I'd be willing to bet everyone has a friend, loved one, family member affected by it.
Even the best of people can fall pray to the temptation of drugs; be it cigarettes, alcohol, pills, coke, heroin, etc....

I have to believe that just cause someone makes the wrong choice that they are not screwed for the rest of their lives! And I do believe that because I spent 3 years doing nothing but smoking crack... EVERY day i woke up and my only thought was 'whos got the crack'

I can't even imagine what life would be like if I was faced with this much negativity from everyone. I took a different path than most, i quit cold-turkey(unless you count all the weed i was smoking) around a year after finally losing my job i'd had for 11 years(i was only 26)

Dont' get me wrong, i'm not for or against this guy. Just voicing my opinion after having spent some time in places i should never had been familiar with and having disappointed and let down EVERYONE i knew. Just glad i had people who didn't give up on me is all i'm saying.

Been clean of everything 5 years now and other than morgage, dr bills, raising kids to not be as ignorant as me, and stress trying to plan a wedding, my life couldn't be better.
Why I waited till the dirt came out on him. He is nothing more than a deadbeat father that abandoned his wife and kids. They should stick him back on the street corner they found him. After all he lied to everyone of being clean from drugs and alcohol on tv on more than one occasion.

And if he doesn't do right by himself and whoever his new employers are he will surely fade away. Its up to him, he he throws this chance away than f*ck him. If he does the next right thing then power to him.

Either way, one thing i do know is no matter what choices or bad decisions me, or anyone for that matter, have made doesn't make me better than him or anyone else. We, all of us, can only do the next right thing.

All i can say about dude for real is that.... you wasted this much of your life, don't waste anymore

But look at how many radio personalities that are out of work looking for a job. This guy who has pissed his job away and his life and he gets all the breaks and job offers. It was his choice to use drugs and alcohol. it wasnt like the drugs and alchol forced him to. So that isnt an excuse for him to say it was the addiction that caused his life to crumble.

I am waiting to hear from his former employers to talk about how he acted on the job. I guess that voice wasnt so golden if they didnt put up with his sorry butt. You know its coming because he has made all these news shows look bad and now they should be digging harder.

I don't disagree with you, just pointing out that everyone should be entitled to more than one chance.

For all i know dude was despicable and doesn't mean to turn his life around. And your right, their are radio personalities out of work that will probably get passed up for this guy. It sucks but it is the way of the world. People that are more deserving get passed up by more talented, though troubled, people all the time... in everything. I certainly don't agree with it, just saying.

And for all we know drugs and alcohol were forced on him, literally. Parents could of been alcoholics, could of been abused, any number of things could of happened to put him down his path. This notion that addiction can't cause your life to crumble is just plain wrong. That a person can't become predisposed to addiction is a falsehood as well imo. If your raised a certain way that molds who you are for the rest of your life, the mold affects everyone in different ways.
My point is you just don't know. We shouldn't be so quick to judge. If he's really clean then good for him, i hope he does well for himself for now on. It's not right to continue to hold his past against him imho. It's what he does with his present and future that matters now.

''For whatever reasons things wasn't going for him in early years''....

Are you serious???? This guy had a god given gift, a career, a family, a home...I should wish my life ''wasnt going for me'' so well as he had it.

He chose to screw it up. Noone forced drugs and alcohol on him. I have more sympathy for his 9 abandoned kids who are now a productive member of society despite having a drug addicted father who chose drugs over them

So i guess you live a perfect life? We all make bad decision and choices in life, some more detrimental than others. All I am saying is he has a chance to make things better for himself and I hope it works out for him.

yeah I made bad choices but I man up and said its on me. I dont go around and say I blame drugs, alcohol, my boss, my wife, the bank.

you know i listened to this show and they took a homeless person and gave him an apt and money and a job. a few months later he stopped going to work. wasnt at his apt. they found him back on the street. they asked him why and he said it was too hard and being homless was so much easier. because people give them things and dont have to do anything.

Look at this guy golden voice and he still wound up on the streets. what makes you think he is going to make it this time? nothing has changed in his life.

I would love to hear what his former bosses has to say about him. Lets feel sorry for him because he is homeless and has a god given talent. Look a susan boyel or how ever you spell her name? you hear nothing from her now.

he will get his 15 min of fame and once the shows tire of him they will kick him to the curb and then who will help him?

I agree, but this guy's story isn't one of redemption, just hand outs. If it was the story about how he screwed off his life, then after years of living on the streets, straightened up, kick his habits and looked for a job... that would be a beautiful story of redemption.

This is not the case. I agree with everything you've said, and I've had some experience with addition myself. Everyone deserves a second chance.

But this guy's story isn't the story of redemption. He's done nothing to help himself. This is the story of the media trying to cash in on a fad, and people wanting to feel good about a story, facts be damned.

A beautiful story would be an un-sensational story, about a guy struggling in silence, and decides to do the hard work, on his own, for himself, to turn his life around. That stuff happens everyday, and therefor isn't very sensational, and doesn't make for good ratings. Aside from the family thats overjoyed to have their loved one back, no one really cares...

I agree completely with what your saying. And i don't mean to imply that his story is about him redeeming himself. Only that he should be givin the chance to. Right now he is getting hand outs but i hope he has the strength of character TO redeem himself. If he doesn't then f*ck him. I'm not even really a Ted williams fan, i'm surely not advocating for him. Was just really responding to the thought that once you do drugs you're worthless and don't deserve 2nd chances.

I think he is way past a second chance. Just look at his lil mug shots. He will crack under the pressure of the spotlight. I hope he can make it and make a mends with everyone in his past. But likt they say its hard for a leopard to change his spots or however that saying goes.

Been working all night long as I wasnt blessed with anything golden from god lol.

I agree wanna be sith:)p)
He very well could have used all his chances and while i think you never run out of chances i do feel at some point enough is enough. I in NO way feel sorry for dude but the first couple posts in this thread were, to me, disgusting generalities; 'if you get hooked on drugs you deserve to live in the gutter' <its that that i have a problem with.
In this guys case it is highly probable he will f*ck it up all over again and i'll be 'sorry bout his luck'
And i feel ya bro, i'm at work now having not been blessed with anything, well apart from my amazing good looks, lol
women say I was blessed with something else, but they say it's more black than golden. But I haven't been able to earn money because of it at this point. Anyone wanna YOUTUBE me this Friday night?
