Name I came up for us Eris Fans.. hehe. Yes, I got me an Eris today. Today, I became eligible for a new phone. I've been hoping and hoping something like the Passion/Incredible/Bravo would be out by now but it's not happening. So, I got an Eris. I really like it so far.. except for the battery. Drained already :(. Here are my questions?

Apps- I've downloaded Pandora, MMA Schedule, Flixster, Facebook, SportsTap, and Barcode Scanner so far. which free ones do you recommend? which paid ones do you recommend?

Battery- what is the best way to get better battery life until I get an extended battery? I just read about the Seido battery.

Return- I got until January 23 to return if I'm not satisfied. I got it at a mall kiosk. I have the $100 mail-in rebate to do which I was told would take 4-6 weeks . Plus, it's a Verizon Rebate Card.. figures. I could pay my phone bill with it. For my Rebate, I have to take off the UPC Barcode from the box and send that in with the paperwork. Can I return the Eris in the original box minus the barcode if I decide too? Seems like a dumb question but just wanted to know.

Accessories - All I got right now is the Wall charger. I don't really need a holster. I may need a bluetooth. Can I just use any bluetooth ear piece with it? I got 1 from my old Env2 I probably could use.
I'm thinking about getting a screen case too. How much do these typically run?
I would like a car dock too when 2.0 comes out but haven't heard of one yet.

That's all I got for now.

This will help you optimize battery life. Ask, in that thread, for further assistance if you like.

Most bluetooth things will work just fine. Some users have complained that some devices won't work, but I haven't encountered one that hasn't yet!

Your receipt will be just fine for returning it - and even that, you probably don't need. They have all your records. Just bring the phone itself and charger!

I was waiting for the 1ghz Passion too, but for $100, I couldn't wait! I had to do this now! You better believe the Passion won't be anything like $100!

Lots of great threads here on Apps too.

Do a search!
Good luck and welcome!

Apps- Essentials IMO: Handcent, BatteryLife (widget), TaskPanel, Screebl Lite, Spare parts (actually don't use this much anymore).
Other fav's: i Music, Dolphin Browser, Locale beta, Ringdroid, Pandora, Shazam, Facebook for Android, Google Sky Map, Screens

Battery life- It does get better, so hang in there. Follow the tips listed in the battery life thread and you'll be set. You'll probably have to charge it every night, but that is normal in my book.

Return- I made a copy of my UPC before I sent it off, but like PP said, you probably only need the phone and the receipt.

Accessories- I just got this case and this car charger. The case I'm not too crazy about. I changes the feel of the phone in my hand and isn't as soft and smooth, but I also want it to be protected in case I drop it, so I'm torn. Haven't used the car charger yet, but it does fit, so that's a good sign! I also ordered Phantom Skinz just for the screen, but haven't applied it yet. I'm nervous about the water aspect of putting it on! I also have this pouch/bag, but in a different color. I just wanted something to keep it in while it's in my bag.

Welcome and I hope you will love this phone as we (most of us) do. It isn't perfect, but what phone is? This phone meets my needs perfectly and more.

battery life app actually kills battery life. It is a nice app to check on the status of your battery, time left until next charge, and average time it holds a charge. But in order to do that, it needs to be on all the time and it chews your battery. My phone's life has doubled after deleting it.

Greg

I have not experienced this problem, at all.

I'm using HTC's battery widget, downladed from the Market by searching for 'quietly brilliant'. Then attaching it by adding 'HTC Widget > Battery'.
