Root extract contents of img files from Nandroid backup?

tried that BUT the backups do not save what is on the SD card. So, when I flashed back to an older backup, the Gallery showed my missing images... until I went into the SD card to get them only to find the SD card contained the newer images and not the lost ones. Went back to the Gallery and reloaded it and sure enough, it loaded the current images which did not have the missing ones.

nah... not a Picassa user

I rolled back to my last nandroid backup to where I was sure the images would be, but they are not. Just do not think that when a nandroid backup runs, it captures the state of the SD card... just the state of the phone

if it works for you and you prove me wrong, that means 2 things (1) my last nandroid backup was made after these images were lost and I just did not notice they were gone yet so of course rolling back would not return them to the SD card and (2) I need to roll back to an even older backup BUT the issue there would be it would not have some of the newer photos

I use MBP.. and I had Photos set to backup, and it failed.

The Photo backup in MBP is new of like version 2.6.x and it failed for me. I have had many emails with them about this already :( but what's done is done

Yeah, the tmp thumbnails got me excited that the roll back older nandroid had worked. Once I saw them, I just went into the SD card and grabbed my image folder and copied it to my desktop and then restored back to my current nandroid and felt great success. UNTIL I went into the image folder and found it was the same images as I had currently. That is when it dawned on my it does not grab SD card contents and I was duped by seeing some old temp images in the Gallery.

Well, thank you for this tidbit. I hadn't tried this feature yet of MBP and now I guess I won't either. Actually I doubt I'd ever have a use for it, if I need to backup my photos, I'll do it the old fashioned way and xfer them to my pc.

yeah well I use the old fashioned method also.. but that will not work if you traveling for a month ;)

They have release a version or 2 since the photo backup option was added and I did not update the app while traveling, so maybe the newer version - now 2.6.4 I think - has it worked out.
