Can't Update! Help?

Hey there,
Recently received a Motorola Milestone for Christmas.
My Parents purchased it from the online retailer Expansy UK.
The Milestone is the Europe version of the Droid.
A few differences but basically the same.

It came with the Firmware 2.0 and recently 2.0.1 was released.
So i want to update.
I go to settings>About Phone>System Update.
When i press System Update, it checks for updates.
After 5-10 Seconds of checking it comes up "Unable to connect, The device is unable to connect to the server. Please try again later."
First i thought could just be a busy server, will try later.
I have now tried Several times all at different points of the day.
I get the same thing.

Can anyone help me?
Is there something i have to setup?
Or maybe there is a way of doing it from a computer?

Despite indications to the contrary, the Milestone is not the same as the Droid, it supports 3G rather than whatever USA standard Verizon uses.

2.0.1 has been released for the Droid, but not for the Milestone. Motorola have said that they will release it for the Milestone this month (January 2010)

And yes, it annoys all the other Milestone users too, as we haven't got a working camera.

So, yeah, wait til it's released; believe me, there'll be a lot of noise, hallelujahs and rejoicing on this forum when it does.

The difference is just the radio, if what you are saying is correct.
Verizon = cdma / evdo Rev a
Europe = GSM/Edge/HSPDA?

In the Windows Mobile world (6.1, 6.5) lots of 'custom roms' use cool features from GSM based phones, like dialers and slide to answer... I would not expect that Android ties too much to the radio - certainly not more than WinMo does!

Having said that, it's no answer to your problem.
If the "self service" application is telling you that there is an update, and you cannot get it through the phone, then your provider is not offering it yet... My new Samsung Moment says "no updates", and I'm on 1.5...

Google have said that 2.1 will be coming for most devices.
Does anyone know when it will be released?
And if the Droid and Milestone will have the same release date.
