Help Can't hear while in call

What up guys. Had to go back to my Eris since someone stole my X. When I try to call someone or when someone calls me, I can't hear them. I assume it is because of this headphone icon that is on my notification bar. I don't have any headphones in. How do I fix this?

Plug in some headphones and unplug them. Sometimes the switch sticks. If that doesn't work, the switch might be busted.

Ok just tried this. When I plug in the headphones, it shows the headphones with no mic at the bottom in the notification bar...without the headphones in, the little mic mouthpiece shows up with the headphones.

That's what's muting sound on calls.

First I'd take a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol or alcohol wipe and clean in and around the jack.

Then I'd go into the application manager and clear data and cache on all media players (menu > settings > applications > manage applications) including Bluetooth, etc whether you use them or not.

Then reboot. You'll have to reconfigure that stuff, but your call audio should be remedied.

I'm having exactly the same problem. If you have any other suggestions that would be great.. Tried the alcohol swab, have rebooted it several times, pulled the battery out etc. I also cleared some of the media data / caches; but some of them I'm kinda afraid to.. Like if I clear data on the People app, it's not going to wipe out my contacts, right? haha. Are there any specific apps you have in mind?

One good thing, the regular microphone still works, so with headphones it can still be used to make calls. That's going to get annoying real fast though..

It was working this morning but got a bit of rain on it. Maybe that caused the problem?

Thanks a bunch!

Ah still didn't work. :( Thanks for the tips though!
