Help with picking my first Android phone!!! :)

I am buying an android phone this month end. And I require the help of the gadget wizards here to help me out on this.

I liked these.

Motorola Milestone 2
Motorola DEFY
HTC Desire Z
HTC Desire HD
HTC Incredible S.
HTC Desire

My requirements are a slider QWERTY/QWERTZ, googletalk and skype compatibility, FB/twitter connectivity, Google maps and above average talk time (say about 8 hours).

Suggestions? Or any phone that I have missed out?

Edit: I am not a gadget freak so I dunno if all android phone support the options in bold. Nevertheless, my requirements.

Well as you want a qwerty keyboard the choices you are left with are Motorola Milestone 2 and HTC Desire Z, as all of the other phones do not have physical keyboards.

Something you need to know with Android is that on ALL of them talk time is pretty much crap. If you ONLY talk you MIGHT get around 5-6 hours from most of them. For your requirement in bold Android supports all of those. Please note that Skype only works for Verizon Wireless. From the naming of your phone, it doesn't look like you're in the US?

The QWERTY isnt really a must. I had bad experiences with the Nokia 5800 and HTC Touch Cruise 09. And hence I am leaning towards the QWERTY.

And 5-6 hours is pretty decent.

I have an o2 connection here. So skype wont work for me is it? I thought they do.

*thinks* I think skype released a version out on the market but it's not a full feature. I have never used skype on my Nexus One, so I can't really say much on that.

The 5-6 hours is using 100% of your battery. If you are going to use your phone for the day, it will be less than that.

Gtalk and Gmap comes preinstall on all Android phone.

Were those phones capacitive or resistive screens? Since resistive screens are less responsive than capacitive.

If O2 has live demo of the phones, you should go in and play with them to see which one you like best. Try out the keyboards to see if you might really use it. There are a lot of alternative keyboards on the market that you can use to replace the stock that works much better in prediction and speed.

Skype for Android? - download for your phone
It tells me to visit that link from my android phone to download the Android version. Maybe someone can do it and update me on whether its available outside US for other carriers.

5-6 hours "talking time" is fair enough. I mean I understand anything more is a little over the top. My HTC Cruise 09 gives me the same and it is Windows!

Capacitive and Resistive? I dunno. But the one on the HTC doesnt function when you use fingers. You should use a little more sharpened object (like tip of nail) to make them work. And the keyboard is a pain. Its too small and it doesnt support swype.

The problem with o2-DE is that they have a list of android phones online. But they are not the same ones thats present in the shop. The online one advertises some of the top of range phones. The shop doesnt have all of them. And because of this, I need to rely on expert advise from users to make a judgement.

It might be annoying. But I dont have any other choice.

All these phones are good choices.

I may weed out the Desire since it is an aging design, and the interior phone memory of such isn't that much compared to the others.

If you want keyboard, the Milestone 2 and Desire Z is what you need.

I prefer the user interfaces of the HTC phones however. This is also where the Desire is weeded out because it has the 2nd generation Sense when the others mentioned are using the 3rd generation.

So lets replace the HTC Desire with its successor, the Desire S. Updated processor, more internal phone memory, and 3rd gen HTC Sense.

Your choice will be based on price and screen size:

Desire S - 3.7"
Incredible S - 4"
Desire HD - 4.3"

So you have to decide where you want to sit on the phone overall size and screen size.

Dunno if this is available where you are - Milestone X. This is Motorola, all touchscreen and has a 4.3" screen. This is the Desire HD competitor.

If you're not specific on qwerty keyboards, there are also the latest and upcoming Samsung and LG phones but with that many choices, you're going to get choice paralysis. So we'll stick with our focus on HTC and Motorola.

If by Milestone X, you mean the XT720 one, then yes. It is available.

I now have a checklist that I need to fill up before heading out to the shop.

And I dont want to include the LG/Samsung/BB because the choices, as you say, are going to give me a choice paralysis.
