Google Voice

I have had Google voice since it was some other company that Google bought years ago. I never really bothered with it until a few days ago. I installed the Google Voice app on my Inspire, configured, and now I get visual voicemail by replacing ATT VM with Google Voice. It was amazingly simple to do.

Just wanted to pass it on to those they don't already know, I know I am late to the party, but this is a pretty cool.

Yes you have your own GV number but the VM is routed to the GV vm system and if you turn on notification on your cell phone it is replacing the ATT VM. People still call your Cell phone number, you do not need to use the GV number. It actually works quite well.

Yep kstruck is right you don't need to use that number it works in tandem with your current number

I may ask you more about GV this weekend. I'm picking up my phone either Saturday or Sunday. I'd like to have the VVM and also the texting ability as well. I don't really send many, if any, pictures over text. What works for Brett Favre, doesn't work for me.

I wouldn't say it worked for Favre either!

I've been using Google Voice for a while with my original desire and I do like it. I like the transcribing part when even if it's not that accurate I can read enough of the voicemail to know what it's about. It's very easy to set up and it goes beyond visual voicemail. Being able to access your voicemail on a computer, etc. and text sending is really great how it's integrated.

Google voice is truly excellent, it's just a matter of learning it, and applying it in a manner that works for you.

I've been using it for months, especially with the four smartphones I use, it's priceless.

Once issue with google voice i discovered today while driving. If you hit a dead zone where you have a low edge signal and cant really get data...you cant get your voice mails either. I drove for over an hour today in a big BFE zone wondering who had left me a voice mail (it was a head hunter), so if you are going to be spending lots of time in low data areas...you might want to reconsider google voice. Personally im keeping it.

Never thought about that, but luckily I am rarely in a low data area so still a go for me as well. Sucked you missed the headhunter call...Hope things worked out.

I love it too, especially with the lack of VVM on at&t. Now I just need to turn off email notification (sms and GV app notification is enough).
