HTC keyboard on mytouch laggy

I got my Mytouch a few days ago and i put the HTC_ime keyboard onto it, but the keyboard is extremely laggy. Is this something that is normal or is there a way to fix it?

Doesn't seem laggy to me. Is it a number of working tasks issue? I assume you have Taskiller or Task Killer.

I just installed the HTC keyboard on my MyTouch and have not noticed any lag.

Yes i have taskiller and i tried it when nothing was running but the browser. Also i dont know if this makes a difference but i installed it the way where you do not have to root.

No Root here either. I don't think rooting is widespread yet on the MyT3G

Hmm, I just did a factory reset to see if that would help and it seems like it has sped it up a lot. Ill see if it stays this way though.

I downloaded the Better Keyboard, Hero Skin. It works the best! I tried the HTC keyboard and it was very laggy.

I think it's the same with a lot of keyboards - the more bells and whistles it has, the more computing it's got to do and so the more laggy it'll be. I've found the HTC one can be laggy, but if you turn off all the extra settings (so it's essentially like Big Keys), then it's as smooth as butter. I find the quickest combination is using the HTC T9 pad - it's a bit laggy as it works out what you want to write, but due to you having to push so many fewer buttons, it ends up being fastest. Then for extended periods of writing, I use the landscape HTC one with no options turned on and it's fine.

Well, here is the deal folks.
If you have a non-rooted phone, ofcourse their is going to be lag even
if you say their isnt lag.
Once you root your phone and load a fast rom like the Super D1.2 or on of the Cyanogen 4.2 builds or the Dwang Builds, Lag will be a thing of the past
not matter what your doing on your phone.
Besides that, their is multi touch, Apps2SD automatic, themes and did I mention that the speed and responsiveness is unmatched????

i uninstalled my task killer and advanced task manager and my phone seems to be running a little more smoothly without them

having said that...i'm really considering rooting my mt3g to make it even faster and smoother. just not brave enough to attempt it yet.

I have a question, when I went to start the root process the first file i went to download (the sapimg) it was gonna take 40 minutes, is that right? or is my dsl really that shitty?
