100% Wake time issues

I had posted earlier about this, but now it appears that it's not the Facebook for HTC Sense app. But I keep ending up with 100% wake time and I cannot find the culprit. I wanted to see if anyone else is having trouble getting their phones to sleep.

Does anyone know of any links to similar problems? I've been searching and searching and I couldn't find much information that was of any use. Most of the wake time issues go back to the HTC Hero's messaging bug -- something I dealt with as well. In fact, my Hero kept having wake issues until I finally rooted and flashed a custom ROM.

I though it was facebook because the issue resumed shortly after logging in to the facebook app, after a factory reset. However, I have since done another factory reset -- and the issue has not resumed. I haven't installed any 3rd party apps, I've only downloaded the updates from the market that are issued for the stock build (Maps, gmail, etc...) and the "mandatory voicemail update" from sprint.

Here's what's strange - Spare Parts doesn't identify any app that's in use to cause the problem. And every time I've had the issue appear -- I've tried to uninstall all apps, delete all data -- and essentially bring the phone back to its "factory reset" state WITHOUT actually doing the factory reset. Even after shutting down, pulling the battery for a while, and rebooting -- I'm still at 100% wake time.

Only a factory reset will fix the issue. And so far, the issue KEEPS happening again. The only apps I downloaded last time were Documents to Go, Elixir, Widgetsoid, Handcent SMS, Spare Parts and System Panel. Even after uninstalling all of them -- the issue remained. And as far as I can tell, there are no known issues with any of those apps causing the problem.

Any help, guidance, opinions, links or suggestions would be much appreciated for I am at a total loss. Thanks!

I was going to suggest that you update prl and profile, but it seems it didn't help you. Yes, on occassion my evo will still not sleep. A battery pull does the trick, but still don't know what causes it. Since you are still stock I'm really not sure what your issue could be. I might consider getting a new replacement and starting fresh.

Well, I've put most of my apps back on the phone, after a factory reset. It's been a painstaking process of re-installing each app and then opening it and closing it and making sure the phone will still sleep.

Oddly, one of the few apps I have yet to re-install, and one I had installed with each previous time -- is the Phandroid app. Is this known to cause any problems that anyone knows of? There are some ticked off and negative reviews in the market, claiming it drains battery -- but it's always tough to tell what version they're even talking about in the reviews...

Go into your applications, find TALK (Google Talk) Go to Settings and uncheck automatically sign in and then sign out.

This should fix your problem, as this program sets the above settings automatically after every hard reset.

Unfortunately, this didn't fix the issue. Thus far, there seems to be absolutely no way to fix the problem without a hard reset and starting over...

Out of all the suggestions in this thread, the only thing that has helped me in the end is to do the full wipe, factory reset and start over. Adding applications back and so on and so forth.

Unfortunately -- within a few days -- my phone goes back to 100% wake time again. I have NO IDEA what's causing it.

Today my phone went from 98% battery to 42% in 7 hours. That's with only a single voice call of about 20 minutes. GPS and Bluetooth off. The phone was only "Without signal" for 7 minutes. This is worse battery performance than when my phone was properly sleeping, and I kept bluetooth and GPS on all day.

I can't keep doing a full reset every few days - but there doesn't seem to be any solution to this problem. It's just incredibly frustrating and is slowly making me hate a phone I started out loving.

aLogcat, free in the Market.

Start it up, goto home screen, do normal stuff (or nothing), wait 20 minutes or half hour, reopen aLogcat, menu, pause.

Look for lines in red, beginning with E for error, describe what you see.

Ignore the LED ones.

I've had 100% wake time issues right out of the box. I ran the aLogcat and got an error line that says E/metadataRetrieverClient( 1267): failed to extract an album art

After the full wipe, you have to turn off the auto sign in for Goole TALK again.

I know that a program called LED Light, basically a flashlight, did not play well with Froyo 2.2. It was not needed with Froyo because it comes with a flashlight program, so I uninstalled LED Light and my constant wake times went away.
