Help VPN support gone!

I have an Optimus and it does have VPN support.

But I think you are confusing VPN with something else. VPN allows you to connect to a workplace or a remote site. It's not really used for "spying".

I know exactly what it is, maybe you don't.

VPN creates a secure connection to a remote VPN server. This can be used to securely connect to a work network or just to securly connect to any remote network(Home).

When connected to a VPN, the phone company cant see what data your sending back and forth. It's all encrypted. VPN access is also good if you ever connect to a public wifi hotspot so that your traffic cant be intercepted by someone else on that open wifi hotspot.

Seriously.. working in IT you figure I might learn something. Skip the IT lesson.

As I said why would Metro need to make a VPN connection to you. Plus you would have to start the VPN connection to them. I am sure they have plenty of tools to "spy" on you.

All I was saying is that VPN is not used for spying by the phone company.

I dont think your getting what I'm saying.

Lets say I want to use wifi at a local coffee shop. I would use a VPN connection to my home so that no one at the coffee shop or phone company can monitor what im doing or intercept things like emails.

The phone has VPN connection options removed.

What would be the reason for this to be removed? Only thing I could think of is that Metro Doesnt want us making secure connections that they can't monitor.

Considering they don't even store call records or txt in the database at any local location, i doubt they have the money to pay people to monitor this shit. To even get a print out of a phone record for legal reasons, you basically have to pay $100 per month you want. Because metro has to hire a 3rd party person to pull it out of the archive. The only thing they would look at is perhaps data transfer, but that's kinda stupid because its on wifi and not on there network. Then again microsoft, google, and just about every other software company out there does the same "monitoring" shit.

I get that but your wording..

Implying that metro was the one trying to use vpn to spy.

I get what your saying..simple misunderstanding.

You don't use vpn to spy, you use VPN to prevent spying.

also, the only way to gain access to my work is through VPN. Guess its a good thing I have an iPad that lets me VPN.

I've decided to test out their true "UNLIMITED" claims each day and download 2GB worth of map data with the Navigon Mobile Navigator app. I cant use the phone to do what I want so, ill just be doing this for now.

its taking me only around 30 minutes to download the 2GB of maps over their 4G network. Why are they doing these things. And their supposed Video service, I opened it up to see if it had anything I would actually like to watch. didnt see really anything interesting, but then I hit MORE and syfy channel shows came up with Ghost Hunters being one of them. I thought , oh they at lease have one show I like. The I find out that there all just comercial clips and the real episodes are split into around 3 different videos. Why would we want to have to stop watching and look for the next video twice in one episode? are they just trying to make use not want to use this video service that they are charging $10 more per month for?

try TV Shows Free its in the android market and its icon is a tv displaying the color strips you see when a channel is off air i hope its ok to post the link it is a free app with no redistribute limits https://market.android.com/details?id=org.apps.PVRViewer&feature=related_apps

it actually has a real good amount of tv stuff on there and they try to keep it as updated as
possible

But back on topic so with vpn removed how do we enable a secure connection i noticed in the email app they have exchange and i believe that has nothing to do with securely connecting

Got my indulge and really appreciate everyone. Thanks! It looks like its the same core people really making changes.

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the VPN.
I can connect to my work VPN using my wi-fi connection from home but I can't do it using the 4G.

Anyone else having the same problems?

Thanks again.
