Stock messenger but SMS isn't my problem. I simply don't have a keyboard.
Can't get past set up without one if i want to use market.
I had no browser either so i can't get apps third party either.
Maybe its because i got the Icarus.zip for both carriers on my MacBook and did cwm and my backups on my HP PC. Also had to re-zip the rom before putting it on my SD. Stupid crapple.

LOL Toke!!! I don't know what to tell you as I am not familiar with Mac. It does sound like you may have a 'conflict' there with Mac and Windows.

Did you try going to the market online? If you can get there that way you can d/ld a keyboard.

You need to change that if you are on Metro. Do this:

Go to >menu >settings >mobile networks >access point names >check your carrier

Then reboot

This may solve all your probs!

Ah ha! Wait... nope. My phone isn't connected to my Google account because i can't type my info in on my phone.
I'm headed home now to try something else. Anyone know where to get titbu online but off the market? A direct link so i can deliver to phone, jump to PC, flash icarus and put titbu back on my phone. I should be able to restore all my apps like that and use better keyboard 7.

Grr... Icarus.zip d/ld keeps freezing between 30 and 50% when i try the link through skyfire on my phone.
Any other trusted sources i can try?
And wtf is this China on TV page the link keeps wanting to open?

When I went back into "My apps" it just showed the ones I had decided to re-download before I closed the market. All the others were not there anymore. I think this may be different for paid apps.

No can do. I borrow my wifi from the neighbor and the HP has no wifi but the Mac does. I'll do it all on Mac but i hate crapple.

I recently installed icarus 1.1. All seems to be working well minus one thing. My connectivity. Wifi pails in comparison to what i was receiving before. Also i cant get 3g. I will see the 3g symbol pop in and out but never stays on. And on average there is no activity. Cant connect to the market or use the web unless i get a glimmer of wifi. ALready checked my apn and its set properly on cricket.

Any ideas?!

Hi Rot! I really don't know what causes that problem. Someone else was experiencing the same thing and they took out their battery for 10 secs and their SD Card. Then put back in the battery but NOT the SD card. Reboot and after you get going see if it works and then you can re-insert the SD Card.

It should work then. It has to do with data etc.

Did you sign into your google account yet?

Hi. I'm new to th forum. Decided to try icarus today. Everything went well until I got to "Wipe Dalvik cache". My screen went blank so I removed the battery. Now I can't get past the white Huawei logo. Does anyone know what I can do to get back into clockworkmod.

NVM I removed the battery and connected to usb and it worked. Scared the **** out of me there lol.

1) are there usb drivers to install for a mac? and if so.. how do i install them?

Also when I run fastboot-mac a white window comes up with various commands and at the bottom it says process completed. I assume this means the program ran correctly but I am not sure because it does not dissappear. Next, when I run the install-recovery file another window opens but nothing seems to have happened. When I try to go into the Clockwork screen all I get is an Android screen with options to reboot, clear cache, and 2 others.

Am I running into problems because I am using a Mac?

i had the same problem. i had to save the cwm to my sd and do the cwm stuff on my hp.
i also was using a macbookpro. never figured it out but i think it's just apple hatin on linux.

i think it got corrupted the first time. the zip was .1mb short on the computer i d/ld it to the first time and i didnt notice. stupid mac automatically unzipping my stuff.

I've been lurking around learning about my Ascend and wanting to install Icarus for months and finally did it today! It works great and i had to convey my thanks to the creators and the mods here for the instructions and the people; everyone seems nice and helpful
the Ascend is my first smartphone and I would like to get a working hotspot tether working on it, but other than that, it's a blast!

I'm on to bigger and better things. I bought an Optimus V, but I'm still developing for the Ascend. I'm currently porting CM6 over, but since I'm building from source this time, it's a lot of work. Take care everyone.

Well I can't turn off USB debugging because my phone doesn't even turn on past the Huawei screen. And yeah I checked on my computer and it's not showing up... =/

Allz I need to do is put the stinkin' ZIP on my SD card! Ugh :'(

try using a card reader and dropping it on that way. or any other microsd compatible device that wont auto format your card.

Tokenpoke may be able to help you. He also uses a mac. I am clueless there. Good luck!

Hey twstde! (love the variation of twisted LOL) Welcome to the Ascend forums!

Happy to read you got it going without any probs. Just for the record do you have Cricket or MetroPCS? It helps us to troubleshoot when we know these things.

Congrats! Oh...and try Barnacle from the market for your tethering. Everyone says it works great!

Toke...you know you have to d/ld the free version of TiBu first and then get the pro version. Hope that's all that's wrong!

okay.. I switched over to my HP desktop and ran through the steps seamlessly.. To anyone else attempting to do this on a Mac I would recommend just finding a PC for this task because it would seem to be more hassle free. Of course that is my opinion. Thanks to everyone for their help, I am going through the first boot of Icarus 1.1...

So far everything is going just as it was explained in the tutorial (as soon as I started using my PC)
