Help Disabling that screen shut off feature when you're on the phone

I know it's supposed to be a useful feature to have the display shut off on you when you're on a call and the little sensor detects your face, but I noticed there's some lag before it brings the display back up when I move the screen away from my face so I can get the keypad back up. Wanted to know if there's any way to disable this.

Also with Any Cut I found a process called LightsensorRead which measures the amount of light that is hitting the front sensor. I don't understand why it can't be used as a front facing camera if it can measure light...cause there's obviously a lens in there.

Specs to the FCC said there was a front facing camera. I've always wondered if it was still in there.

Light sensor and camera a two totally different things.

also i didnt see anything in the FCC filings about a front facing camera.


What I see on the front of my phone is 3 things 1 is the light sensor, the other two are the proximity sensor and an IR light for the sensor so the phone knows if you hold it up to your face.

Yeah I just did some more reading and it's definitely just an ambient light sensor..and the other little things in there are proximity sensors.

Last year someone actually made a front facing camera add on for the Samsung Vibrant. But some versions of that phone actually came with a front facing camera, so it probably wasn't that hard to pull off. You'd probably have to do some nasty drilling on this one to get it on there. Oh well.

Still want to disable the proximity sensor if possible

if the screen doesnt go off your face will be dialing while you have the phone in your ear. LOL

Unless your one of those strange people I see that hold the phone sticking striate out from your ear way from your head, and then remove it from your ear and talk directly into the bottom of the phone.

lol it really annoys me when I see people doing this. (it not as if they didn't have telephones when they were growing up or something, cellphones work the same way)

I saw this over and over......

yeah, that right there along with all the other media outlets were misinforming the public because there were no physical documentations released yet at the time of these writings.

what had happen is it was all speculation based on the fact that the indulge started to get reported as a Galaxy s class device before launch. And under that basis, assumption took over and media started reported with current Galaxy s specs and as we all know this Galaxy s didnt have all the up to par specs...

this was a major contributor to the mass miss information that was released to the public before the phone officially passed through the FCC.

if i remember correctly the FCC received their filing from Samsung for the indulge about a week in a half before it was actually launched.
