Help How do I setup my hotmail.co.uk (not pop3 please!)

I want to setup my hotmail.co.uk on my Desire with push notification. The stock email app doesn't appear to work with the co.uk ending.

I had found an email app called Improved Email which seemed to do the trick. However lately it's gone extreme buggy so I uninstalled it.

Any suggestions or tips?

That's what I did in the end even though Hotmail was working fine on K9, gmail app and enhanced email I didn't see the point in using both accounts on my phone.

Would both my Sent and Received emails come up as normal when I login into my hotmail on my PC? The reason I don't like pop3 is because when I send an email from my mobile, it doesn't appear on my pc!

If you reply from gmail, it will go into your gmail sent items, not hotmail.

I had hotmail for years. I gave up in the end as it was hit and miss on my phones and it just generally annoyed me. I much prefer gmail. I've had that since the start.

Hmm in which case gmail forwarding isn't ideal for me. My hotmail.co.uk address is one I've been using for years and I've established as a business account, so dumping it is not an option.

Any other ideas?

if this doesnt work, not sure what you can do.

If you autoforward to gmail, you get your push notification. if its an email you really want, refresh your mail app and let it come in.

My business has its own domain name. I dont mean to cause offense, but I tend to avoid businesses with hotmail or gmail as their business e-mail address,

I've just installed K9 but it's not working. Hard to believe that a major brand like hotmail has such a stupid basic issue!

I've just installed K9 but it's not working. Hard to believe that a major brand like hotmail has such a stupid basic issue!

If I remember rightly I had to google the correct Hotmail settings for most mail apps, only one worked out of the box and I think that was Enhanced email (not setup Hotmail for a while on the phone so not 100% sure.)

Also found enhanced email doesn't sync properly with Hotmail (doesn't delete off server when deleted on phone) So I switched back to K9 and eventually stopped using Hotmail altogther.

*Just wish K9 had an icon that showed unread email count - I mean I love the real K9 (who doesn't but I also love unread counts*

Does anyone know of an unread email count for K9?
I had one with ADW launcher but not with Sense.

The thing is, Improved Email DID do the Push job nicely. It's just that some of the tweaks to it have riddled it with bugs sadly.

So the technology does exist, but for some inexplicable reason it's not being utilised properly for us poor hotmail.co.uk users!
