Help Xoom not found by PC

Hi - My Xoom is not being found by my work PC/laptop. When I plug it in Windows pops up with a window saying it wants to try and find the driver for it - but it can't find a driver so fails. As a result, my Xoom is not showing up on my work PC as a drive I can transfer files too.

This does work on my home PC/laptop. It just worked there - did not have to do anything.

At home I have Vista Ultimate. At work my pc is XP. Is there a way for me to down load a driver for this?

One difference - at home I used the cable that came with the Xoom. At work, I am using the cable that connects to my phone. Seemed to be the same type of cable.

do you have windows media player? try that way.

i have an XP laptop and i didnt have to do anything special to get the xoom to recognize. i do know some people have had success with using the sync function on windows media player.

what are you wanting to do? transfer music/files or files, etc?

No difference. It just isn't being found. I did not have ot do anything special on my home laptop either (vista though).

I was hoping to transfer a few files over as well as clean up my music directory. Looks like I'll have to wait until I get home I guess.

My xp desk top doesn't recognize my phone or my xoom. I think xp is just too old to rely on

I could not agree more - but its my work PC and I can't just upgrade just because I feel like it. On a positive note - I *am* hoping my work upgrades my system this year - after 5+ years....

hey! lay off XP!! i love it and will use it until my laptop no longer boots up.

ive had zero issus with XP and android. i dont care for win7 but i care less for mac so i will have to adjust.

Not a solution to your connection issue, but to move files around, I just installed Dropbox on my PC's, my phone and my Xoom. Then I can just move files around via the Dropbox and don't need to connect any device to anything. It has worked perfectly for me.

yes i was going to mention it but the OP needs to get into the thing to do some housecleaning.

wifi explorer is also a great app to move files around. the xoom and the computer have to be on the same network.

you can also port forward the xoom andremotely access it as well. i use this and i just keep the xoom docked.
