Root Battery 1% Increments

I was contacted a week or so ago by the developer of Minimalist Text. He was looking for confirmation regarding the 1% charge_counter file, so, he must have finished putting his support in for this.

In fact, he even found some other references to the 1% delta value in some uevent files (I'm still looking into these to determine whether or not they are just reflections of what is contained in the charge_counter file).

The developer is a very nice guy, very talented developer, and it was awesome to share and exchange some information and code with him.

But yes, its legit ;).

Cheers!

as far as i know anything that does 1% increments is an estimation

lol...nope, its real (honest!). Andy S's Battery Monitor did an estimation (by the voltage, I think), but he's even changed his app to support the charge_counter file too.

There seems to be a charge_counter file in the battery status directory that I'm pretty sure didn't exist under 2.1 and only showed-up in 2.2/Froyo.

Someone had pointed-out that the Battery Circle Widget was showing a 1% charge delta and I quickly joined the fray in BattMonX. As far as I know, that was the first app that supported the 1% delta.

Cheers!

scary is there a way you can make battmonx into a widget that displays the battery information along with cpu temp? it would be a very nifty thing!

I've never done a widget before, but I'm willing to learn! :D

I'm on PTO next week, so I might try to tackle something like this then (I was going to go to the 2011 Google I/O Developer's Conference in SF, but I missed the registration window (sad story...:(). I'll be "attending" virtually from my PC at home, though (they are going to "simulcast" the sessions, I believe)).

I'll see what it would take to ride my own coat tails for a widget...

Cheers!

a widget form of battmonx will be amazing bud, give it that good look feeling to it you know, that way once people have it set up they can either remove the notification and apply the widget to their homescreen, or keep both :) either way i always have battmonx running

Thanks!

By the way, new (v2.6) version of BattMonX coming out tonight (unless I get slammed by work (I'm on-call this week, ugh!)).

Cheers!

minimalistic text has done 1% for me for several months. on both froyo and now GB. You can see it being discussed along with circle battery back in February here http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/278435-1-battery-stats-circle-battery-widget.html

I also think there was another thread (that escapes me at the moment) where I learned of the Circle Battery Widget (full credit to that dev for doing the 1% thing first (at least that's where I heard about it first)). Very cool!

People were like "no way"....and the response became a resounding, "way!" :D ;)
