copy data from one android phone to another

Hi folks,

is it possible to copy all data from a htc desire to samsung galaxy s?

i could probably sync contacts from outlook to galaxy but would really like to copy texts and audio files.

thanks in advance

Anything related to your google account will automatically move to the new device, once you sign in.

Pictures, files, etc. can be saved to the SC card and put into the new phone.

Text messages, most likely will not be moved, but if you search this forum you will find suggestions.

Hi All,

Rather than start a new topic I tought I'd tag on here!

I should be getting my Galxy S2 tomorrow (missed the delivery today :( ). I previously had a rooted HTC hero with an 8GB SD card, can I just switch this across into the new phone? Ideally I'd like to clean out any junk I don't use any more from the card, so is formatting it the best way and the S2 will just refill it wit the folders it needs?

I don't really have any apps added onto the SD card, but am I right in thinking these will download fully from the market when I switch phones as these are linked to my Google account?

Thank you for any replies! :D

IIRC, only apps that you pay for will move to your new phone. Free apps will need to be downloaded to the new device.

Why not backup your messages with some tool like MyBackUp Pro on your SD card, and then install same tool on new phone insert SD card in it and restore messages, calendar, bookmarks...

With Titanium Backup I had some issues when I tried that -- like version mismatches of the data.. The messages database or whatever database versions never match and this leads to problems (or messages that never show) at destination.
