Root Rooting please help!

rooting itself does nothing to make your phone faster or slower. Just gives you more control over what you can do on and with your phone.

Rooting basically gives you root access like admin on windows. With the right apps you can do just about anything you want depending on hardware and your knowledge and/or ability to read n following instructions.

Custom ROMs are basically a new OS for your phone that in most cases adds features and improve profermance.

Hi there!!

I just root my phone!! yay! Was a very painless process lol and good to know that now I am gonna be able to get rid of all the metropcs crap apps...

I do have one question. I followed all the steps here (all things rooted) but when I was about to "restore missing apps with data" as shown in the video, it happens to be that I have 0 "restore missing apps with data"!! I do have stuff in the "restore missing apps + all system data" and "restore all apps with data".

I am stuck in this step and don't really want to go any further with the freeze/uninstall process until this one is clear.

Any suggestions/contributions would be really appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Nuttmeg...I did and I read everything but I can't find something that would be related to the issue...

Excuse my ignorance but I don't think I have install a new ROM I just root my phone, unless that's a new ROM?? OMG I am so newbie...lol

Well, I don't know why I don't have any apps on "restore missing apps with data"... should I use other option?

Thanks

also if you deleted an app you can go to @metro on your phone to download the apps if you ever need it, also i would recommend freezing the app in titu instead of uninstalling it...

Check pm please!!!!

You said you didn't want to go freeze/uninstall steps, how are you going to restore something that you never removed? Or am i reading your problem incorrectly?

I see your point and maybe I misunderstood the instructions... I backup everything, and then I understood that I had to restore and then reboot my phone and then start the freezing/uninstalling process... That's what it look like to me when I saw the video...

When I tried to restore under the "restore missing apps with data" I have zero...I guess cuz I don't have any missing apps, since I haven't freezing/uninstall anything :)confused:). I have the other options though:
"restore all system data"
"restore missing apps + all system data"
"restore all apps with data"

Maybe I am confusing the steps...

The other thing that I did was d/l the busybox after I backup and in the top of my screen I have this msg that says: Done! Click to restart TiTu Backup" which I am not sure to click since I haven't restore yet... OMG so confused sorry... I am beyond newbie.... :p

any suggestions?

thanks!! and sorry for the mess!

Click ok it should restart it for you. Then just start freezing/uninstalling the apps you want to remove. Yeah you are going one step too far in the directions. That is if you need to restore, but that is not what you are doing. You are backing up and removing. If it makes you feel better click ok, then do the back up again then start removing but i don't think it's going to be problem.

A tip on guides: Read them until you understand what is actually happening because trying to follow step by step with no clue what is going on is when confusion occurs. I'm sure you will move to bigger and better things like roms and such so this will come in handy later. Hope you get it working it is actually very easy.

It is also highly recommended that you backup ALL System Apps and Data before you go any further, using Titanium Backup. (The Freeze option is only available on the Pro Ti-B/U). Once you have them all backed up, restore them all by clicking on back/up and restore tab and select batch and then select 'restore all missing apps and data'. After you have done this you are ready to proceed with either freezing or uninstalling the system apps that are safe to do so. Be sure to reboot after you restore before proceeding.

Thanks for the advice. Actually I did read them several times before I jumped into them and I was feeling really confident...but as you can see in the instructions seems that once you backup you have to restore them all by selecting "restore all missing apps and data" and THEN you are ready to freeze/uninstall apps.

Seems to me that is backup all, then restore them all and then freeze/uninstall...If I am misunderstanding something would you clarify it for me?

Again thanks:)

That does not even make sense. The word restore means to bring back something that is missing. How can you restore or even have to restore if the item is not missing. Just freeze the apps don't uninstall them. Freezing will just stop the app from working. Truthfully removing them is just trouble for you. They all add up to maybe 1mb if that. Freeze.
