I still haven't taken the plunge. When the sticky page says to do your research to choose a ROM where am I researching? The links seem to just go to files/installation info but where do I find pros and cons of the different ROMs? Is there a [How To] Choose a custom ROM sticky?

If you want to get pros and cons you'll need to sift thru these threads to get that. It seems most people are on either GSB or Comdemned CM7.

GSB? Sorry, still new. Can you spell it out?

Lol, I'm not new and I don't know what GSB is. And what do you mean about Condemned CM7. I'm guessing auto-correct mischief is at fault. :p

OP: If you want a solid ROM, you can't go wrong with Vegan 5.1.1. It's a froyo base but it's pretty stable. The only downside, it's not being developed anymore.

There's been a lot of changes in the past couple of months in regards to ROMS. TnT is no longer TnT. The developer is calling it Mountain Laurel. The developer has some crazy names for his ROMs haha. Anyways, tHere is a video of almost every ROM that's out now. I suggest googling with the keywords gtab rom video and you should find them.

Vegan 5.1.1 (install Vegan 5.1 first, and then the 5.1.1 update) is the Froyo (2.2) Rom I use. It has hardware acceleration so video / games run more smoothly.

If you want Gingerbread, Cyanogenmod 7.0 ROM is available, or Vegan 7 is available. Both do not have hardware acceleration so videos / games are more choppy. But they should run fine otherwise.

I recommend you start with Vegan 5.1.1 first, and use the recovery to make a full NAND back up. Then you can try CM7 or Vegan 7.0 after that.
